the music was originally written by henry mancini for an experiment in terror(1962) directed by blake edwards. It was a psychological thriller that stars lee remick, glen ford, stephanie powers and ross martin as a psychopathic bad guy with a scary asthmatic voice. I remember the theme from creature features even though I was quite young. it was very indelible.
It's a B Movie from The Brave Little Toaster Written by Van Dyke Parks and sung by Phil Hartman... doesn't get better than that! For a kids movie anyway.

If you want the original mono release of the Monster Mash on CD, you can get it on the Jasmine "Monster Mash Collection" CD. It wasn't issued in stereo until the 1973 London/Parrot vinyl issue and it is this stereo mix that is on the Deram/Polydor CD from 1991.
