    Yes, that is beautiful.

The luminous focal point in the centre really brings you in hard, but I love the details of the scene in front with the calm horse really contrasting with the epic brightness.

    Honestly, it's just really peaceful.

Truth coming from the well armed with her whip to chastise mankind is an 1896 painting by the French artist Jean-Léon Gérôme.[IMG]

It looks grainy, and rough. But I mean that in the most positive way in terms of a genuine texture.

If you click on the image and view it at it's full size, I believe you can see that is part of the detail, and part of his illustrative style.

    Yes, you're right, very beautiful.

These kind of scenic landscapes in the forests/woods can often become cliche, but there's a dense atmosphere here that gives it a real point of difference.

Artists that have such a distinctive style that you recognise the who the painter is immediately after looking at the artwork?

There'd be many I'm sure, but I'm loving Modigliani's work recently.

That wasn't Mondrian. That was a fellow by the name of Michael Thompsett, who was admittedly inspired by Mondrian. I'm thinking of buying a print of his work to use on the top of a guitar I'm building. :)
