It's impossible to pick a "favorite" painting, or your "favorite" song, or your "favorite" food. But Salvador Dali is my favorite painter. I've been fortunate to see many of his works up close at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as at special exhibitions, and in collections of major art museums. I have two signed Dali seriographs hanging in my own home.
I don't have one favorite painting, but one that I really like is, "The Atavism of the Angelus of Millet" (1957). Dali created this as a homage to the famous French painting, "The Angelus" (1859), by Jean Francois Millet. I participated in a virtual reality presentation at the Dali Museum, where I flew through a 3-D version of this image like an aerial drone, which was cool.

I've been to the Dali Museum 2x, it's really a wonderful glimpse into the mind of a genius! I honestly can say that my favorite work of art is The Hallucinogenic Toreador! The size of the painting is almost overwhelming, luv it! I've got a clock in my den (bought at the Dali Museum!) with the painting as it's face!;)

Very derivative. Clueless of the artist. Just saw it and loved it.

About as English as you're ever likely to get. Lovely way to sum up a season.

    Derivative? Derivative of what?

Reminds me of an architectural illustration found on the cover of a golf club scorecard.

    Nice, I like it.

Impressionism is what I was thinking of. The half formed/unfinished people.

It really feels like a scene you could step in to.

Took a granddaughter to visit Hampton Court Palace a couple of days back. I'm sure many of you will have visited Henry VIII's and William IV's galleries there.

    But first....

Passed a great little gallery on the way in.

A nice gift for any Floyd fan, I'd imagine.

Also dug this. Quite emotive. As there's no urns or cherubs it's probably smut. But I don't care. I like it.
No price though. That's always worrying.

I love art too, for me watching paintings is always great source of inspiration. I love japanese artists like Takashi Murakami, he is probably the most popular today.. Recently I found cool japanese pattern images on depositphotos. It's one of the largest stock image platform, that offers images for commercial use too. There are millions of images and photos on every taste.

Nothing wrong with loving art. Why limit yourself to just one thing....? How, even?

It's the same as the threads asking for "Your favourite song", "Your favourite album", etc. They ask for one, but some people can't resist posting several dozen that they like.

I would have though it was stranger actually being able to name your favourite song or album. Seems pretty narrow and limited to me.

Well, that comment sounds a bit judgmental to me. Some people have a favourite, some don't. Either way it's OK. Having a favourite does not imply that you don't have a lot of other songs/albums/paintings that you enjoy.

Hampton Court Palace, a must-go. Needs a full day to take in. We were there in 2015, the 500th anniversary. By happenstance, we sat in the cafe next to the food curator who described the challenges of replicating a feast there with period food and presentation, using herbs grown and meats roasted onsite. Basically, Henry VIII’s pleasuredome, constant party for 600 invited and uninvited guests. One challenge was to re-complete their pewter set which was diminished from 500 years of ‘shrinkage’ (although most guests were served in bread bowls that were consumed by the palace livestock upon discard). Apparently there are only two or three pewter makers left in England…

Was it this guy? Nice bloke. Let my granddaughter turn the spit for a while.

Here's some of the sugar goblets and plates, wonderfully decorated.
The actress is showing them to Eryn. The goblets had already been used at a couple of functions and the sugar hadn't started its full dissolve - yet. She doubted they'd use them again though.
(I'm in the hat in the background).

It was that fireplace, but not that guy. Imagine, at capacity (look at the racks on each side), seven spits of meat with multiple roasts on each. Hungry yet?
Back on topic, also at Hampton Court Palace, this copy of the Holbein painting of Henry VIII hangs next to the red guy you posted a couple pages back.

And this, which hangs just outside the gallery above the chapel - which would be Jane Seymour and Edward (this is cropped)

    And turkey dinner

This is in Greenwich, similarly grand
