I went with Taxi Driver and Midnight Run. They span a pretty big range, those two films, but I could easily have picked another several.

Nearly impossible for me to pick just two. Some of my favorites from that list:

    The Godfather II
    Taxi Driver
    Raging Bull
Once Upon A Time In America
    Goodfellas
    Casino
    Heat

Taxi Driver—one of my 10 all-time favorite movies.

Once Upon a Time in America—not as good a film as some of the other choices, but it includes my favorite De Niro performance.

Yes,it's a brilliant Scorcese masterpiece,in my opinion. Amazing performances by De Niro and Pesci.

Taxi Driver and King of Comedy are in so many ways the same movie, with a similarly deranged protagonist. There is the same twist near the end whereby he becomes a hero. At first these movies blew me away, but the more I think about them the more unsettling they are as statements about our culture. Taxi Driver is too intense unless I'm in the right mood.

Sorry, I forgot to push "vote" after I selected Casino and GF2, haha.

I agree. I didn't choose it for that very reason.

That's a very fair point however Deniro's scenes are my favorite in an excellent movie so I personally decided to go with it.

Lol. I knew someone would pick that movie. It was intentionally left off the list.

Cartoon: Great. Movie: Terrible. I have no idea who green lit that movie or what they were smokin’.

    Glad you enjoy it though.

Are you a fan of Jerry on Rick & Morty? (If you don’t watch, you should catch the episode Mortynight Run.)

Also, I *had* to include The Godfather, Part II. De Niro was phenomenal in that film. But I do understand your rationale.

I didn’t want it to be like the NBA or NHL where virtually everyone makes the playoffs.

And I agree. Picking only two from this list of movies is nearly impossible.

The limit of two makes it pretty tough. Those are great and I could have even gone for Bloody Mama if we had five.

I like De Niro's performance in Mean Streets but it's really all Scorsese and Keitel that makes it great, right from the start with that bit about spiritual pain, the burn from a lighted match, blah blah blah.

never said it was, but there are levels of enjoyment... If one loves the actor they can still find something in the movies they are in...
