Such a great song from an often overlooked band from the 90s.

Lord Huron - The Night We Met

I had all and then most of you, some and now none of you

"Looking back over the years and whatever else that appears I remember I cried when my father died never wishing to hide the tears and at sixty-five years old my mother, God rest her soul couldn't understand why the only man She had ever loved had been taken Leaving her to start With a heart so badly broken Despite encouragement from me No words were ever And when she passed away I cried and cried all day alone again, naturally." Gilbert O'Sullivan

Those lyrics always gets to me.

    Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)

Billy wrote this for his daughter when she asked him, "Where do we go when we die.?" I saw him talk about it at a Q and A. He struggled to play the song, in fact he couldn't play it right through. It's heartbreaking. Especially when you're a father.

'That Just About Does It' by Vern Gosdin. This song is about relationship failure and he's pushed his partner so far away, there's no going back. Does he live with the regret and let it eat him alive or does he learn from those mistakes?

Famous Blue Raincoat is the ultimate song that puts me in a state of melancholy. Hurts so good!
On a side note I love the ambiguity and vagueness of the lyrics. If there’s a story there I haven’t made it out 100% (maybe I’m daft too), but I love it that way.

A song from the progressive rock band - Camel (UK)
it's from the album A Nod and a Wink (2002) which Dedicated to the fantastic Camel keyboardist peter bardens RIP.
a beautiful piece of music with very powerful lyrics, there is sadness but also hope.

    My interpretation of the lyrics:
they actually tell you not to let your life pass without trying to fulfill your dreams
or reveal /express your love to someone who doesn't know how do you feel ,
it's ok not to succeed , at least you will know that you tried and you followed your heart, it's better than regret one they that you didn't try becouse regret can hurt you real bad and there is no way back/

from 5:55 m' the magnificent guitar starts to Wailing together with beautiful synth sounds and then at 7:08 mesmerizing vocals join to the music , the band are singing all together ,its so touching!

I saw a pearl of wisdom
In the spirit of a man
    As he saved
    The day he lost

Time will say I told you so
If we look back in regret
    Never give a day away
It won't return the same again

    Nothing can last
    There are no second chances
    Never give a day away
    Always live for today

    CAMEL - FOR TODAY

I love sad songs as well. My favorite is Marie by Randy Newman.

    "I'm drunk right now baby
    But I've got to be
Or I never could tell you
    What you meant to me"
