The Jon Lovitz "Hitler" scene in the the turd of a movie "Rat Race" is by far the funniest thing I've seen in a movie the last ten years.

Several scenes in Bananas: the one where Woody goes to the drugstore and the cashier loudly requests a price check on Orgasm magazine, the pantomime bit where he's accosted by muggers (including Sly Stallone) on the subway, and the final scene where Howard Cosell is giving a running account of Woody and Louise Lasser in bed.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels "Can I go to the restroom" scene is excellent. Actually a lot of great scenes for one movie. Michael Cane and Steve Martin at their best

    Beans and Franks!

I would also rate the dog attack scened as an all-time howler.

Another recent one involving Ben Stiller is the family dinner scene from Meet the Parents.

    How about:

The climactic football game from Harold Lloyd's "The Freshman"
The Boxing Match from Charlie Chaplin's "City Lights"
The Boot dinner from "The Gold Rush"
Clouseau's visit to the home with the parallel bars & no-longer priceless Steinway and/or The assassination attempts at Oktoberfest from "The Pink Panther Strikes Again"
The "I'm Into Something Good" montage from "The Naked Gun"
The "Skeet Surfing" music video from "Top Secret"
"Bees! Bees! Save yourself! Don't Be a Hero!" from Tommy Boy
The international dinner with the "Gee, I'm real sorry your mom blew up, Ricky" punchline from "Better off Dead"
Bill & Ted's escalating competitions against the Grim Reaper from "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey"
Steve Martin & Eddie Murphy vs. the ninjas in "Bowfinger"
The "I love my dead gay son" funeral from "Heathers"
Clark Gable teaching Claudette Colbert how to dunk a donut in "It Happened One Night"
"Catholic School Girls in Trouble", Big Jim Slade, or Henry Gibson's PSA on death from "Kentucky Fried Movie"
The funeral, "The Pros from Dover", and football game scenes from "M*A*S*H"
The climactic broadcast sequence from "My Favorite Year"
The car/diaper chase from "Raising Arizona"
The communist son-in-law makeover from "One, Two Three"
"Love Power"/"That's our Hitler!" from "The Producers"
Peter O'Toole as Jesus doing "The Varsity Drag" from "The Ruling Class"
"Naked Old Men" from "Waking Ned Devine"
"Make 'em Laugh" from "Singin' in the Rain"
The war room scenes from "Dr. Strangelove"

    There's more, but I'll pause for a while... :)

    Regards,

Better Off Dead is fantastic. Catholic School Girls in Trouble always gets me laughing like crazy, and usually the people who I'm watching with haven't seen it before and go "wha?"

I've always thought that the Producers was the definitive comment on postmodernism, even if it was made before that term or worldview was widely known/held...

Let's not forget the whole "vessel with the pestle/chalice from the palace" bit in The Court Jester.

Oh, and how about Stan, Ollie, and Jimmy Finlayson tearing each other's car and house apart, respectively, in Big Business?

What's a gub? - love it. , but the marching band is especially funny to me as I've played in them. I also like the interview with the parents wearing Groucho masks to protect their identities

Woody holds up a bank; he hands the teller a note that's supposed to say "I have a gun". He misspells "gun" as "gub". It's hilarious!

How about the bit in My Cousin Vinny, where Pesci has to explain to Fred Gwynne what "yutes" are?

And has anyone mentioned "Springtime For Hitler" yet?

The Three Amigos-------the scene where the amigos are in the Mexican bar and launch into 'My Little Buttercup.' I never laughed so hard in a movie theatre in my life. It took me completely by surprise. I knew they were going to sing a song, but, my gosh, those lyrics.

One of my all time favorite comedy movies, and grossly underappreciated. I don't think I have ever heard a better score in a comedy---from Randy Newman's hilarious and brilliant songs to the authentic western score by......wasn't it Elmer Bernstein??? To actually get a composer who has scored classic westerns to provide the music for this picture was just plain brilliant.

I believe Randy Newman actually had a hand in the script, didn't he? I know Lorne Michaels of SNL did.
