Phil Hartman. Always golden. RIP. Did a great Sinatra.

 

Loved Phil's "Ed McMahon" impersonation with Dana Carvey as Johnny Carson... "you are correct, sir!" Pure gold.

 

I love the Darrell Hammond impersonations of Chris Matthews and all the "guests" on the spoofed Hardball segments. It captured so well the lunacy of these political talk shows as the real thing had descended into total madness (and has only gotten worse).

I also loved Carvey/Hartman as Johnny and Ed! I always remember one where Chris Farley as Dom Deloise came out and soiled his pants in a fit of laughter. "Weird, wild stuff!" There is a clip on youtube but its terrible quality.

 

Just one? Nah. My top two - Belushi doing Beethoven. And...Jane Curtain/Dan Akroyd - "Jane You Ignorant Slut"!

Phil Hartman and John Lovitz: I am having trouble finding the video, Hartman plays a washed up actor, Johnny O'Connor, who will never work again in this town.

Honestly, this is still the best one to me. Paul Mooney's writing married to almost perfect performances between Pryor and Chase produced lightning in a bottle.

And, for this forum, a fitting postscript: I've got this on vinyl, man.

To this day, if somebody drives by while I'm walking on a sidewalk and honks, I'll yell "HONKY HONKY!" And in some cases, "DEAD HONKY!"

I liked Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton in a presidential debate. Bragging about Arkansas rising from 50th in education to 49th. "We've just passed Mississippi on graduation rates. (Wink) Look out Alabama, we're coming after you!"
