He's not my favourite Telecaster player, and it's not my favourite Supergrass album, but Gaz Coombes' Telecaster Deluxe on the cover of their largely ignored final album, Diamond Hoo Ha, just looks freaking awesome:

    Favourite players would be:

Steve Cropper for the original Tele
Jonny Greenwood for the Telecaster Plus
Alex Kapranos for the Telecaster Deluxe

    No idea for the thinline!

I just seen this one in another thread:
Lenny and the Squigtones, Micheal McKean (Lenny?) with what seems to be a deluxe tele:

    Nate-O-Phonic I didn't get a Harrumph! outta that guy...

Amos Garrett generally gets a great sound out of a telecaster:

and no matter what you think of "Midnight At The Oasis" as a song, there is no denying Garrett's contribution and solo:

Here is a great performance with Gary Clark Jr on his Tele.Doing an old Albert Collins tune with a Magic Sam vibe.

*I love a Telecaster (it is my favorite guitar) and I love Danelectros (bless those cheaply made things!) but a Tele/Dan frankenstein is just so wrong!

That tele was on the market a little while back and it had some surgery to make a double cutaway. Sad.

Bill's the best. I've seen him play lots of different guitars, starting with an SG about thirty years ago, but he really has a way with a Tele.

Yes, indeed. Frisell is the reason why I play the guitar. What’s readily apparent, though, is no matter what guitar he plays on --- he still sounds like himself, which is a testament to his artistry and one-of-a-kind musical persona.

That was done long ago, IIRC. There was an article in one of the guitar magazines about it 4-5 years ago now, I believe the guy who got it from Bloomfield was a lefty and so did the cutaway.

Definitely a shame, it just doesn't look right

I think this was actually the article, Bloomfield traded it to studio musician John Neuse for the Les Paul, and it was Neuse that did the cutout.

Yes it's sad what happened to that legendary guitar..here it is in better times at the Newport Folk Festival. He traded it for the 54 Gold Top Les Paul he used on East West, not the later 59 Sunburst.

DITTO! Right out of the gate with the best!
All polls are now closed, we already have a winner!

Since the best player on a Tele has already been scooped up so early in the game, I'll mention Pete Anderson from Dwight Yoakam's band 1986 thru 2004. Tele player extraordinaire! Great producer, too.

I want to also mention Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes. He plays a deluxe Tele with the dual humbucker setup. Not the best lead player, by his own admission, but he slays the rhythm guitar with those open tunings.
