  2. Fantastic. I absolutely loved AOR, and it also served to re-introduce me to the brilliant David T. Walker.

I'm really digging this Australian band called "Little River Band". They went away from AOR with their later albums, but the ones between 1977 and 1979 are some of the best examples of the smooth 70's sound. This song "Light of Day" is my favorite one from their album "Sleeper Catcher".

Just picked up David Roberts "All Dressed Up" - amazing West Coast album. I had never heard of it until this thread.

Isn't it? If you haven't yet, you should look out for Adrian Gurvitz Sweet Vendetta and especially Bugatti and Musker's The Dukes. Both have become big favorites for me.

I checked out "King of Hearts - 1989". I've seen it mentioned as a "West Coast" album but I'd say it's more AOR/roots rock. GREAT album but not sure I'd classify it as "West Coast". Listening to Adrian Gurvitz Sweet Vendetta right now.

I guess it must be early Toto, from their debut to "IV". I played it so much.

That Adrian Gurvitz "Sweet Vendetta" album is great! I also enjoyed Dwayne Ford "Needless Freaking".

Have you discovered Erik Tagg yet? If not, seek out Dream Walkin' and Rendez-vous.

Still haven't found anything to top the two State Cows albums. They nailed the sound on the albums-the tonality, instruments, vocals, and overall ambiance are just right!

I know it as Yacht Rock and I love it all!!!

Even The Beach Boys made a great Yacht Rock album in L.A. Light.

  15. A truly amazing thing is that they could still sound like that live, as a four piece. The singer is fantastic.

The guys who made the web series "Yacht Rock" have a really good podcast that covers a lot of West Coast music. You guys should check them out if you haven't already!

    Beyond Yacht Rock

Also, the album "Radio Dream" by Roger Voudouris is a great piece of Yacht/AOR/West Coast. Especially the song "Get used to it"
