    Stand Up Guys( 2012).
Not a classic, but still entertaining though.

  4. I think both are great, nuanced performances but I findI prefer some of his other performances. I think he matured as an actor with the other performances.

Good point. It's tough to say if he as an actor was more disciplined as Michael or if it was a matter of him playing such a disciplined character. In GF I just see tremendous commitment to his acting method that he would never fully recapture. In that respect I wouldn't say his acting matured. I would say he let himself take more chances and expand his range.

I would agree with that statement but that ain't enough to save that film.

There are just so many. He's been one of my favourite actors since I was a kid. I'm struggling to think of an actor who has made so many great, great films and turned in so many career-defining performances! Him and Sean Penn are unbelievable in Carlito's Way, and I've always loved him in Scent Of A Woman too.

He's my favorite actor. I know he's made some clunkers but I'll watch him in anything.

If I had to pick a favorite favorite, Dog Day Afternoon.

"scent of a woman" as I hate watching violence, which the rest are centered around.

Agreed. I have said for the longest time that Pacino's performance in GFII is the greatest in film history (that I have seen anyway), and I stand by that.

I would not say The Godfather films are centered around violence. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Now, the Sonny death scene in I is brutal, but lasts maybe 30-40 seconds and it's over.

I've mentioned Manglehorn here before. It's a small film that was in the theaters for about 5 minutes, but it's another example of Pacino's range. Another one where the film didn't stay with me but his performance did.
