one of the greatest filmmakers of all time in my opinion. What is your favourite of his feature length films?

Like 'em all, but have to choose Mulholland Drive. The new Criterion release of this is awesome, with some great bonus material.

The Straight Story is so good. He went more mainstream, but he did his own way, so its a win/win.

I like Mulholland Drive a lot especially, but Blue Velvet is in my top 5 favourite films.

Twin Peaks. Might of course have something to do with the fact that I'm a huge TP-fan. :D

But Eraserhead (haven't seen that one in a long time), Blue Velvet, Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive are great too.

Best balance of normalcy and Lynchian surrealism would have to be Blue Velvet. However, I wish I could vote for Wild at Heart just for Willem Dafoe as Bobby Peru.

Easily Blue Velvet for me. Elephant Man was good, Eraserhead totally freaked me out and I never revisited it, Mulholland Drive had some cool stuff in it (that's right, that stuff :agree:), The Straight Story bored me silly and Dune blew. Not sure if I saw any of the others.

Got told I looked like that one woman in the movie, so I had to watch Mulholland Drive!

    A very strange odd movie!

''Mulholland Drive'' followed by ''Lost Highway'' followed by '' Blue Velvet''.

    Three twisted masterpieces.

Gotta go with Blue Velvet, though I do love Mulholland Drive and Eraserhead too. The Twin Peaks movie frustrated me. I wanted it to be so much better than it was.

Actually, that part of the movie put me off at first - it seemed too cliche and exploitive. Further viewings made me realize that it was intentionally so. There are parts of the film that are deliberately poorly written and acted, which I think is brilliant.

Asking Naomi Watts to overact is like asking a classical trained singer to deliberately sing flat. It's harder than it seems.

For Mulholland Drive obsessives, there's this rabbit hole of a web site: http://www.mulholland-drive.net/home.htm
I've lost many hours wandering through that place.

I've got to say that I'm surprised nobody has voted for The Elephant Man! That is a masterpiece and the cinematography is out of this world.

I loved the Elephant Man. I usually start welling up during it.
What a horrible life he had to endure.

Especially if you find a woman who has been told she looks like Laura Harring, as I did earlier today. ;)
I was thinking the exact same thing earlier. Though it now has one vote thanks to (I think) Django.

"Elephant Man", I guess. Not a big fan of Lynch's work...
