The Elephant Man I really need to watch a few of his movies again as I haven't watched them since they were released.... Dune Lost Highway Mulholland Drive
Still between Blue Velvet and The Elephant Man. His later films, while interesting, largely leave me cold. I’m also fond of the big mess Dune. RIP Jack Nance.
The Straight Story. A bold move to make a film that was G rated, that was absent of violence and sex (not that those don't work well in many films), and still comes through with a compelling story and great images. In and just a few brief scenes, Harry Dean knocked in the winning run. Excellent film!
Never heard of The Straight Story before until seeing this thread. Ordered the Region B Blu-ray from eBay just now. I'd probably vote for Inland Empire but would have to watch it again. It's been awhile. Maybe Blue Velvet. Is that the one with the "Frank" character?
Having just played The Straight Story, this would not be my first choice. Seems like a good movie for old people, so if some are over visiting, play it. One funny part he argues about the price of the lawn mower repairs, gets a better price, but they stole his mower deck. Probably needed new blades anyway.
I watched the entire Twin Peaks series in real time and loved it. The film was a real disappointment (the word 'sucks' cones to mind). "How's Annie?"

I supposed they'll do a DVD of it too. HA HA HA. And then when I buy the Blu-ray they'll announce the 4K UHD version the next week. I'd like to see a long version of the Locomotion sequence in the extras. Probably no such luck. I'm sure they have the footage though.
I've only seen parts of Mullholland Drive, and I haven't seen Inland Empire yet. I'm saving them for a special occasion or, hopefully, a theatrical re-release. Blue Velvet is my favorite Lynch film, followed closely by Eraserhead. All of Twin Peaks, all three seasons and the movie, are my favorite thing made by Lynch.
I love Inland Empire. It may be incredibly uneven and ugly, but it's so interesting and I discover new things in it every time I watch it. It's like a fever dream. Really claustrophobic cinematography. But it really confuses me why they aren't releasing a 4k release when they went through the trouble of upscaling it to 4k. I feel like less compression for this film is a good thing.
His take on The Wizard Of Oz - available on dvd. Apparently the 1938 movie has influenced all his films.
Voted for Eraserhead, but I'm not entirely sure. Maybe I'm just pretending to be arty cool. It's certainly the one that had the most impact in the watching. Quite an experience back in the day.
