I picked the same as you except Beautiful Ones instead of New Generation. I love all those singles from the first three albums tho! Animal Nitrate and Trash are my very faves... and maybe both are in my top ten fave singles from the 90s.
Metal Mickey Animal Nitrate Played 'suede' to death on cassette when it came out. These two are my faves. Trash The Beautiful Ones Saturday Night Coming Up is as good as any feted 90's album to emerge from the UK and better than most.
I'm not voting yet, as I don't know that many of their songs. I have the first four LPs and Coming Up is the standout for me. Trash is a fine single, and I'm almost certain I'd vote for Beautiful Ones as well, but after that I don't remember ...
I've gone for a more even spread because with hindsight, while their albums tailed off, their singles (apart from the wretched 'Positivity') stayed strong. 'Can't Get Enough' is brilliant, for one. Ironically, I'd say their singles are the weakest part of the Butler-era work. Those two albums are magnificent. P.S. A pedant notes: 'Let Go' was also issued as a single in its own right.
Outsiders from 2016's Night Thoughts is definitely one of my favorites. Truly stunning track that would be a huge anthem had it been released in the nineties.
Let Go would definitely be up there for me out of their later singles from their first run, and now that we have The Blue Hour, I'd say Wastelands is equal with any of the singles from the first 3 albums.
It Starts And Ends With You might be my favorite single of theirs. It’s pretty amazing how they not only survived the loss of Butler, but took such a long hiatus and still came back as strong as ever.
The Drowners (1992) Animal Nitrate (1993) Metal Mickey (1992) New Generation (1995) Outsiders (2015) Was no tomorrow not a single?
Just a little off topic, but still related to Suede, Bernard Butler plays guitar on the track "Burning the Heather" from the new Pet Shop Boys album.
Yeah, this had to be voted for! Also "The Drowners" because of that riff. And even though I don't think "Head Music" is their best album I really like its singles, "She's In Fashion" for its elegance and cigarette metaphor. And "Just Can't Get Enough" because of its drug fuelled swagger!
Stay Together Animal Nitrate Saturday Night So Young Can’t Get Enough What a great run of singles this is, barely a dud to be found.
obsessions is their greatest single. also picked: new generation so young animal nitrate she's in fashion if you were including the b-sides the first 5 singles
