Both Lou and Cale "did" her.
Nico dumped Lou with the line "I cannot make love to Jews anymore". Cooooold. Love Nico.

It's just one great album each by four different bands, so I don't have to choose!

Far earlier; it sat in the can for months!
EDIT to add: Oops, should have finished the thread before posting--someone already mentioned this!

Well if you are in Pittsburgh in the near future the Andy Warhol Museum shows The Chelsea Girls twice daily, all day long and it features lots of Nico. They also have Lou Reeds hand written (in pencil) music and lyrics to Heroin on display.

3rd album is my favourite for emotional reasons but I also wish I had the thrill of hearing White Light/White Heat for the first time again. VU & Live 1969 are strong contenders too and of course the banana album goes without saying. They are all good for different reasons though.

The first album. I also fully second ralphb’s endorsement of Nico’s ‘Chelsea Girl’ album.

Can't go wrong but I tend to return to their third the most for displaying a little bit of everything they could do throughout. Or just for Pale Blue Eyes. But I consider all four to be all-time greats, with probably White Light/White Heat ranking last.

I could never decided. A brief but incredibly varied discography. All of them are excellent.

What Goes On is my favorite VU song while Loaded is my favorite record cover of all time. How did the same band do WL/WH and Loaded? Night and day albums, but both are incredible.

    I don't know.

An 8-LP edition of the Complete Matrix Tapes has been announced! Not a “highlights” per say, and I’m not in a position to find a link just now, but seek and ye shall find. :D

He's a huge music fan, so I'm hoping for the best on this. It all depends on what's available to him and how he frames the story, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Haynes.
One of my favorite directors, so I'm in no matter what.

In the UK on the Polydor label I’m sure VU charted, least indie charts.

Lou was such an unusual guy, but I can see how a biopic could find an audience. working title: Walk on the Wild Side

What a life: growing up in Brooklyn and Long Island, electroshock, Rachel, being in the in the Factory with Andy, Nico, Velvets, fistfight with Bowie, recovery from drugs and alcohol, tai chi, Laurie Anderson, a pretty amazing life.
