Deliver Your Children is easily the best of his tracks. Great lyrics, excellent lead playing, great tune.

Runner up is Weep For Love. I like the open E chord progression.

The Note You Never Wrote. Wish there was a McCartney vocal version.

Two other favourites are No Words & Again And Again And Again.

I Would Only Smile. Good tune...
Next would probably be No Words or Time to Hide

"No Words" by a pretty substantial margin.

"Again X3" would probably be 2nd, and then "Time to Hide"...

Yeah, that’s not my track list, but just the list of songs copied from the poll. I like Time to Hide as an opener and maybe Again and Again to open side 2.

Oh yes, Weep For Love. If that were on this poll, I'd might have to switch my vote.

I've always loved "Picasso's Last Words." Didn't realize Denny sang lead vocals on that one. I see (on Wikipedia personnel) that he and Paul were both lead vocalists on the track. Which parts did Denny sing?

:kilroy: "No Words" features three-part harmony throughout most of it, so I don't really consider it a Denny Lane song, but more of a group effort. My favorite is definitely "I Lie Around," which has a great John Sebastianesque melody, no matter who sings it. And Paul does take over on the final verse.

What a good album that track list would make!

I think it's silly to include Don't Let It Bring You Down. Denny sings backing vocals on this track, Paul sings all the lead vocals. If this song is to be included, then by the same token so should Silly Love Songs, Mull Of Kintyre, Let Me Roll It ....

Well, unlike "Silly Love Songs" and "Let Me Roll It", Denny actually co-wrote "Don't Let It Bring You Down". But you've got a point with "Mull of Kintyre", so... But then "Morse Moose" and "London Town" should really be on the poll as well.

I kind of agree, also because it seems kinda stupid to use a Paul McCartney written song as the opener on an album called Denny Laine & Wings. And "Time to Hide" segues fine into "No Words", so it goes as song two.

But "I Lie Around" does work well as a side opener, so let's put it at the start of side two instead. And it slips almost perfectly into "Children Children", so that has to follow. And then "Again * 3" to pick things up a bit after two pastoral tracks.

It's a bit unfortunate to put two Paul songs next to each other, but two other tracks that have a great segue into another is "Spirits of Ancient Egypt" -> "The Note You Never Wrote".

And of course we need two strong side closers as well.

    So maybe something like this?
    Side 1:
    Time to Hide
    No Words
    I Would Only Smile
    Spirits of Ancient Egypt
    The Note You Never Wrote
    Weep for Love
    Side 2:
    I Lie Around
    Children Children
    Again and Again and Again
    Send Me the Heart
    Deliver Your Children

I really like all of the following:
    Time To Hide
    The Note You Never Wrote
    No Words
    Deliver Your Children
Don't Let It Bring You Down
Weep For Love (unreleased from BTTE)

But the point is, the post is about "lead vocals or co-lead vocals", so backing vocals shouldn't count. And does Denny even sing on "Morse Moose?"

Now you got me to listen to it for the first time in a while, and, man, is that an awesome song.

I’m not certain if the first three verses of the Grey Goose bit are Paul and Denny in unison, or just Paul double tracked. But it’s almost certain that he is in those Wings harmonies towards the end, chanting ”This is the Morse Moose calling”. And if that doesn’t convince you, he is clearly audible around 4:25, with that ”dit dit dit dit, yeah yeah yeah yeah”. :)

The first two lines of the opening verse is a solo spot, "Grand old painter died last night, his paintings on the wall" and then he's joined by Paul and Linda for the rest of verse and kicking in to the first "Drink to me" chorus.

Wow. I have been listening to Band on the Run for decades and had no idea that it wasn't Paul singing that part. Whoops.:hide:
