Autumn 1971 I saw them at the University of Nebraska Student Union Ballroom as a callow freshman.
They were the free entertainment closing a weeklong conference on Human Sexuality sponsored by student government.

This clip from the Dick Cavett Show that year is just how I remember them.
They were a real, road-hardened working rock band who just happened to be all women.

~I had to re-start the video a few times and let it buffer to get smooth playback, but worth a look if you want to see what we saw in 1971~

My impression was the band had a sense of humor about it, or they would have used a different name.
    Seemed like strong, confident women.

Their first album cover was iconic IMHO.
The front showed their backs and the back their fronts.

Had not heard the Harrison story.
    I'll just leave this here:

Of course Fanny means something completely different and possibly even more humorous/offensive - depending on your point of view - here in Australia!!

Nickey is down under in either Australia or New Zealand. Pretty much a recluse now, there's still a lot of bad blood between her and the Millington's, particularly June.
I was lucky enough to go to one of the recording sessions for the album, and it was, without a doubt, a major moment in my life!
Easily my favorite album of the year!
(And as amazing as they all are as writers, singers and musicians, they're even lovelier as just really cool ladies!!)

And for those who didn't know....Jean Millington suffered a stroke in January. It was pretty significant, but she is working her ass off daily, and is determined to play again.
June has started a GoFundMe page that has already raised almost $45,000.00, all of which is going towards retrofitting Jean's place and the various therapies.

  12. They may be thinking you like a different form of Fanny. ;) For the record, even after their career, they were, unfortunately, forgotten by many.

  14. Imagine if the remaining members of Fanny got together with Birth. They could go out as Birtha’s Fanny.

Well, it would have to be June on guitar, as Shele passed away a few years ago.
Don't know if Rosemary has even picked up a bass in 40 years, but with Jean out of commission, she would have to get back in shape!
Since Nickey wants nothing to do with Fanny OR America, Sherry would have to be the keyboard player.
As for drums....don't know if Liver has stuck with it....Alice hasn't, but she sounded great on the one track she co-drummed on off the Fanny Walked The Earth album!
Added bonus.....Brie Darling on percussion and vocals!
    Nice pipe dream.

This doesn't seem to be on YouTube anymore. Does any one know where I can find it? I'm really loving this band and it's music!

The full video has been pulled down, but you can still see most, if not all, of it at the band's website: www.fannyrocks.com!

Not great.....she's still working her butt off, but it's a long, frustrating road. Still learning to walk again, with no real change in the paralysis in her arm and hand.
