Ahh crap, overlooked the word “double” in the thread title. In that case, Live and Dangerous :D

  8. You must have a fairly catholic definition of “not filler”.

  14. As in the true definition of filler, that Prince didn't have enough quality songs, therefore he had to "fill out" the rest of the albums with quickly-penned tunes to make a double album?

Not so. You are aware that Sign 'O' the Times was pared down from a triple album, right? Moreover, Prince wrote the hit"U Got the Look" as a last minute inclusion. Even more, there were quality songs from the abandoned Dream Factory project that didn't make it to SOtT.

So, really you've helped bolster the idea that Sign 'O' the Times has zero filler. :D

If by filler you mean stuff you don't care for, then sure ymmv. But every second of UM has a purpose IMO, whether you approve of that purpose is a different question.

People need to stop with the live albums. The whole premise of this thread is based on the longstanding idea that all double studio albums would be better if pared down to a single. Live albums have no place here.

"Quadrophenia" is the only one that qualifies for me.

Genesis - Seconds Out. But that's a live album so that's probably a cheat. :D

How about two single albums that should have been released as one double?
GD - American Beauty / Working Man's Dead
And then there is the two single albums that were later repackaged as one double.
