in light of yet another upcoming version of The Three Musketteers, this one with Vincent Cassel and Eva Green. Does anyone have favorite film adaptations of Dumas?

It's really hard to top Dick Lester's Three Musketeers and Four Musketeers, the double feature with legal repercussions which leaked into another film (or two*) by the producers.

    *or three

  4. The Richard Lester directed The Three Musketeers (1973), The Four Musketeers (1974) and The Return Of The Musketeers (1989).
Oliver Reed is great in them.
Vincent Cassel's dad is the King in the first.
They've been on tv all my life so I've seen them a fair bit.
The third one isn't as good as the first two.
Any film that has Spike Milligan and Raquel Welch as a married couple can't be all bad.
Same with The Man In The Iron Mask (1977), another on tv all the time when I was a kid.
Not as good as the Musketeer films but entertaining enough.

Not film, but the tv version The Musketeers (2014) is good.
Has Peter Capaldi in it too.
I like The Three Musketeers (1966), half hour tv show.
Has Brian Blessed and Jeremy Brett in it.
