I had forgot about that Movie, but plan to watch to eventually, and got to figure the BluRay can be bought now for only $5-$6(or maybe during a Halloween Movie Sale). Seem to get good reviews-IIRC.

For those People, who are selective in their Horror Movies, I would recommend this one(and the US Remake I will link in a followup Post):

Let The Right One In(Original Sweden Version):

I do not care much for Torture Porn(struggled to get through 'Hostel'), but 'Saw'(1st Movie, not all the Sequels), I liked because I was trying to figure out the Mystery Aspect of the Plot, as I never saw the end coming, unlike 'Se7en' that I knew what was in the box(trust me Brad, you do not want to know). Actually, I kind of liked the 2nd 'Saw' Movie, but lost interest by the 3rd one.

Anime movies are usually so convoluted. I can’t figure out what’s going on. Probably something gets lost in 5e translation.

I also gave up entirely on super hero movies

I think "Mean Girls" would probably fall into the "teen comedy" classification.

In my 20's, as long as a movie had space ships, action or breasts, I was happy.

Now, I need a story. A GOOD story. In fact, I can even stomach less than stellar acting if the story is good.

Anything 'modern' from the past 20 years.

Nowadays I like a handful of 80s movies, 1930/1940s film noir/musicals and early 1900 silents.

Never heard it described like that before!
It's about a couple of young Hindi women in London playing football.
    Greta film.

    Musicals.
Does 'The Blues Brothers' count as a musical?

    Rom coms.
I expect I've liked a few though at some point.

    Adam Sandler.
But then I liked 'Punch-Drunk Love' which is a rom com with Sandler in it.

    Certainly is.
After that, 'Inside out' & 'Coco', also amazing films.

No animation / cartoons means no Wallace & Gromit. Or Shaun The Sheep. 'Farmageddon' is marvellous.

I remember back in the 80's the girls next door had done my wife and I a favor and I offered to invite them and their friends over to see the movie of their choice. The movie was one of the Friday the 13th type movies.

I watched parts of it from time to time and really did not see why that pack of girls liked it so much, but I did get one takeaway from the movie. In it's world view, life goes like this for teenagers: Have sex and die.

The most vivid image I have from that movie is one of them on top of the other on a bed having sex, then the camera shows the wood floor under the bed, and suddently a bloody spear sinks itself into the floor from the bed above.

That's just not entertainment for me. For me, entertainment is Sylvester Stallone blowing a guy's head off with a .50 cal machine gun with chunks of brain and bone flying all over the place. ;)

Yes, this is me as well. You can have a movie with the best effects and lots of excitement but if the story doesn’t get my attention then I just can’t watch it. What’s worse for me is the characters. I find that in most films I can not empathize with characters so what happens is that I end up not caring about any of them.

One example being Lord Of The Rings. These were well made films with an excellent story but I found the characters to be difficult to care about. The result was me finding the films to be a chore to sit through.

I get what you're saying about culture, but I really wish you would have used different words because the way you put it sounds very racist.

I watched a couple of movies at my sister's house last week and didn't understand a lot of it. The situations were alien to me. But, it didn't cause me to stop watching. I just looked at them with a WTF attitude.

The problem is that movies more or less reflect society, or the writers, casting directors, and producers preferences.

I am in my 50s somewhere and I can still enjoy those teen movies of the 80s. The Breakfast Club, Valley Girl, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, and many more. And I also like Saving Private Ryan, Old Grumpy Men, and so on. Age or generation in movies is not an issue for me except I cannot stand to watch shows geared for families with young children, although I do like Finding Captain Nemo.

Anything to do with sorcery, wizards, dragons unicorns and the like. Gladiators, Sports, torture porn, (most) horror, gender remakes, comic/superhero films, modern musicals, modern action movies where there is endless gunfire, explosions, shattering glass, people running, rolling around and leaping about.
Modern "comedies" where toilet humor, vomiting, endless profanity and swearing at everyone is supposed to be funny.
