There was a thread like this one not too long ago. I remember someone cited Edge of Tomorrow/Live Die Repeat, and I said one title sounds like a soap opera and the other like shampoo directions. :D

Is that title any worse than Erin Brockovich or Michael Clayton?

This was going to be my go-to answer. What an amazing film with its popularity hindered by the fact that it was literally marketed with three different titles over different periods of time, all of them doing a pretty poor job.

I prefer ' Live Die Repeat ' cause as you say ' Edge of Tomorrow ' does sound like a soap opera- cue cheesy organ and cheesier camera angles and cuts.

    ' Titanic '
What a terrible title! The name of a ship !
How could this possibly make any impact at the box-office?
    They should have called it : ' Iceberg Dead Ahead ! ' . Now that's a title.

Andrew Stanton Explains ‘John Carter’ Name Change, Says Girls Won’t See A Movie With ‘Mars’ In The Title

Many fanboys and literary fanatics became ruffled when Disney (and director Andrew Stanton) changed the name of this spring’s Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptation “John Carter of Mars” to simply, “John Carter.” Apparently Stanton was in London to screen 20 minutes of footage from the hotly anticipated film and during the presentation he explained to assorted journalists (including someone from Bleeding Cool) why it had undergone a surgical title snip. And, well, it’s not exactly going to silence those that feel Pixar (which was unofficially involved in “John Carter”) is a boys club.

“Here’s the real truth of it. I’d already changed it from ‘A Princess Of Mars‘ to ‘John Carter Of Mars.’ I don’t like to get fixated on it, but I changed ‘Princess Of Mars’… because not a single boy would go,” Stanton told the journalists.

They told George Lucas that women wouldn't go to see a film with "Wars" in the title.

Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is a terrible title. It's long, it's affected, it's got a colon in, and leads off with the name of a failed TV show.

Andy Smith .....Like a good pinch of snuff......

Years ago my wife & I watched a great Virginia Madsen/Tommy Lee Jones film called 'The Dead Can't Lie'. It was only years later I discovered overseas it was called 'Gotham'. Why?? Makes no sense. I am not in the know as to why the title was changed for different countries. By calling it 'Gotham' in the States were they hoping to fool people into thinking it was Batman-related? It's not a widely known film so perhaps the title change affected its popularity?
