First CD was The Sugarcubes Life's Too Good. All those bonus tracks.... That's what made me take the plunge into CDs. I think it was $18.99:realmad:. Still have it tho.

I started off by trading R2R tapes and didn’t buy my 1st CD until 1994, once I turned 29. Most albums I acquired prior to that were gifts, or if I bought something I have no recollection of it. In 1994 on CD:

Al Di Meola Project – Soaring Through A Dream
Al Di Meola Project – Tirami Su

Then in the used CD store on the same day:
Genesis – Selling England By The Pound
    Fish – Internal Exile

On 2011, when I started building my records collection, I took a few CDs I didn’t care for (mostly some Japanese mini LPs), got $70 credit and bought a few albums. Those that I remember:

    Bee Gees – 1st
Nazareth – Close Enough for Rock’n’Roll
    Sky – Sky
    Sky – 2
    ELO – Eldorado
Some Dixie Dregs, but What If was not one of them.
Wigwam – Rumours On The Rebound
    Family – In A Doll’s House
    Magnum – Kingdom Of Madness
Jon Anderson – Olias Of Sunhillow
Alan Parsons Project – Tales of Mystery and Imagination
Alan Parsons – The Turn of a Friendly Card
    Yes – Yesshows

I remember the clerk counted how much I owe and just let me go. It was late at night, and if I’m not mistaken they waited on me to close the store. Sadly, out of business now.

I think this topic had been covered before (maybe several times) but anyway, this is the first album I bought with my own money, at the McDill AFB PX (Tampa, FL) in 1970. I still have this LP today, in my office - though it's the worse for wear, it's a keeper for me.

Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan - Birds of a Feather (featuring Tennessee Bird Walk, a novelty hit)

First CD: Stevie Nicks - Bella Donna (bought it in 1983 when the CD was first released, the LP of course, was released in 1981)

Fabs Help! US Soundtrack back in '65. To this day it remains my favorite and most often played Fabs lp. It's the Beatles first sitar album. Those Eastern and James Bond styled soundtrack songs are all excellent. In my elder years I have grown to appreciate Dave Dexter Jr for his Capitol album sequencing including the Help soundtrack, all the sonic sweetening he did with the various Fabs tracks and the awesome duophonic stereo mixes of tracks like Ticket To Tide. Dex rules!
