    1. Reelin' in the Years - Denny Dias, Countdown to Ecstasy
I haven't seen Dias mentioned on this thread yet. Baxter and Carlton tend to steal the spotlight, but many of the Dan's iconic solos were Denny.

    2.Aqualung - Martin Barre, Aqualung
Quintessential guitar solo, perfectly constructed and immediately identifiable.
Jethro Tull - Aqualung (best version)

    3. SRV - Eric Johnson, Venus Isle
The hook, the solo, the way he picks up the slide without losing the thread...
    Eric Johnson - SRV

    4. Ramada Inn - Neil Young, Psychedelic Pill
One of his finest, if not overlooked, extended guitar pieces. The solos perfectly mirror the anguish, and anger, of the lyrics.
NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE - Ramada Inn

    5. If I had a Rocket Launcher - Bruce Cockburn, Stealing Fire
Criminally underrated Canadian singer songwriter and guitarist.
Bruce Cockburn - If I had a Rocket Launcher - Austin City Limits

Okay I know I already gave my list.

And I don’t know if this is considered a solo – but I do like what Lee Ritenour did in the middle of

Strawberry Letter 23 - Brothers Johnson

so there's two. I suppose something by Bill Nelson, Robert Fripp would be three and four. I'm thinking of five as we speak.
