Announced earlier today the Foo Fighters will perform two tribute shows to Taylor in London and LA this September. News - Foo Fighters
This looks great, like the artists appearing. Wish Liam Gallagher was performing at the LA show as well. Trying for tickets tomorrow
Given everyone who bought tickets to 2 London gigs, one Manchester and one in Glasgow (I think) has access to the presale. That’s circa 200,000 ticket holders trying to get tickets tomorrow for the presale. hmmmmm. that’s but going to be easy! But will give it a go.
Not going to be easy, but I will give it the ol' college try. Foo Fighters were the first two shows I saw after lockdown. Vax Live, and that Canyon Club show. I had tickets for the Banc of California show. Saw them at the premier of Studio 666 less than a month before Taylor died. They just happened to be at the suburban movie theater where I was watching the film. It would mean a lot to me to score a ticket. Let's see how this goes.
Two tribute shows for Taylor Hawkins seems a bit much. I know he was a well-liked guy but even Freddie Mercury, George Harrison, etc. only got one of these each.
they are massive in the UK, and credit the UK with elevating them to the level they reached. First arena, first stadium etc (might not have the exact details correctly. So it s big weird to be playing here. then obviously he lived in LA, and is American - so a gig in LA makes sense. So not too much at all - it will be massively difficult to get tickets. That’s in itself shows it’s not too much.
I don't think there is a quantification of how many tribute shows are right for each person as if it is a competition - just simply they decided on one in his living area of LA, and one at a UK venue that meant a lot to Taylor and the Foos Especially in 2022, while not nearly as locked down as 2020/2021, there are still plenty of travel related issues regarding the pandemic we are in, so I also see it as them wanting to give a bit more leeway to that as well
The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will benefit charities in both the UK and the US chosen by the Hawkins family. Beneficiaries and further details will be announced shortly.
Agree. Some aren't happy unless they're whining. Wish I could go. He was a beloved figure and deserves a proper sendoff.
You’re right. It’s not like the Foo Fighters have been some corporate juggernaut churning out mediocre crap for the masses for the last 25 years or anything.
All due respect, we don't need this type of thing in this particular thread. Let's keep the vibes good and negativity out thanks in advance
I got seats for the London gig on the presale. Not ideal, at the back. I’ll try again tomorrow for standing.
Actual 'lol' at the chap who claimed it was all a cash grab then, when faced with evidence to the contrary, just hand-waved it away to stick to the narrative taking place entirely in his head. Outstanding. Anyway, despite Ticketmaster being an absolute shambles as usual, I managed to get seats for the London show this morning. Expecting a great show, given the exceptional line up. Just a shame it isn't taking place under different circumstances.
That person won't last long here doing that sort of thing. The Gorts will catch up with them eventually.
Has the thought ever occurred that they are actually doing this for the people? But that kind of negativity and cynicism says a lot about the people who are posting it. These are your thoughts and chips on the shoulder. Not Grohls.
