Gene Clark is credited with harmonica on Captain Soul though. From what I recall, that's kinda disuputed (was it Mike on harmonica?) so may not count. Still he's listed as such on the 1996 reissues.

He may have then, but they were pretty chummy at the NYC in-store appearance by the original lineup for the KC Epitaph boxset release back in 1997.

Since that was the B-side of "Eight Miles High," it was probably recorded before he left the band.

Youre right, sorry. Captain Soul was the B-side of the next single, 5D.

Lake was forming a new band, Giles I guess couldn't bear touring anymore (at least with Fripp), but they were willing to help Fripp and probably get a decent check for not a lot of work.

I don't know. It's the only post-departure Traffic album he plays on though.

IIRC, that claim has been debunked by Rogan... it's Michael Clarke playing harmonica on that song.

You could count Robin Trowers appearance on Procol Harum's Prodigal Stranger. He was officially back in the band, but that wasn't really true.

      • Motorhead Sherwood appeared on 200 Motels and You Are What You Is.

FZ used some old tracks Duke recorded on that album. Duke sat in with Zappa's band at one show in '84 though (as did Aynsley Dunbar, Denny Walley and Bruce Fowler, before Bruce rejoined in '88).

Wally Waller left the Pretty Things after the Parachute album and some terrific singles to become a producer, at EMI I think. But he returned the next year to produce Freeway Madness under the pseudonym Asa Jones. And he wrote and sang uncredited my favorite track on the album - Over the Moon. His voice also figures prominently in a backup role on the entire album harmonizing as usual with Jon Povey. He didn't officially join the band again until 1980's Cross Talk.

I think just playing guitar, but I could be convinced that he's singing the line "yesterday I was fascinated by somebody else..." and not Billy.

Apparently Mick asked him to sweeten the track a bit.
