I thought I’d start this thread to help keep Sinatras’ flame burning here. The idea of this thread is to make a post if you happen to see a commercial featuring Sinatra music, maybe an interview that may bring up anything related to Sinatra, a movie, a TV series, a magazine article, anything that you may have seen or heard recently. For example today while watching the new SKY series ”Julia” starring English actress Sarah Lancashire about the life of TV chef Julia Child they played Sinatras’ “The Best Is Yet To Come” in its entirety. Frank will always be here, there and everywhere.
He will. He was the greatest popular singer of all time. His timing, phrasing, breathing etc remains unsurpassed. I'll always regret not going to see him in 1990. We got a chance for tickets at Ibrox stadium where Frank was on with Liza and Sammy. And we didn't go because the weather was horrendous. You can't rewind time. Mores the pity.
New signs on Garden State Parkway near Atlantic City, New Jersey: Atlantic Service Area on Parkway Renamed to Honor Frank Sinatra | NJTA
I was watching the new Beatles 'Get Back' documentary by Peter Jackson. When Paul shows Ringo a new song (Golden Slumbers) he says: "should be ready for a ‘Songs For Swinging Lovers’ album soon”"
Works here, but these are other links to news stories based on that press release: Start spreading the news, Frank Sinatra has a Parkway service area named for him Frank Sinatra gets Garden State Parkway service area named after him Garden State Parkway rest stop in Galloway named for Frank Sinatra
Hollywood Bowl 100...a 7 LP box set contains Sinatra live version of "Night & Day" from the 1943 Hollywood Bowl concert.
Visited many times by Ava Gardner, Lana Turner, Lauren Bacall, Judy Garland, Juliet Prowse, Mia Farrow, etc, etc...
Is there a general Sinatra thread to just discuss anything related to him? (For instance, I'm a Deadhead and there is a very popular Grateful Thread here, though I doubt Frank would gather as much interest)
Ol Blue eyes...anyone who has ever listened to popular music knows Frank Sinatra, and all who have listened to his music will remember him!
Why not use this one? If @Tina_UK is ok with it that is, if so I can always add the words "All things Sinatra" to the thread title.
Another mention of Frank on the TV series “Julia” - when Julia decides to tell her boss that, she is after all, going to return for a second series of her popular French chef show, he replies that “Life” magazine had only called the other day about her doing an article, and he passes her the latest copy with Sinatra on the cover and says “‘Ol Blue eyes one week and New Blue eyes the next, the two best voices in America”
@Tina_UK As you liked my suggestion I've added (All Things Sinatra) to the thread title, hope that ok with you?
Yes! Thank you for doing this. Anyone watching "The Offer" on Paramount+? It paints Mr. S in a very petulant light. Sure, he threw his share of fits and public stunts, but I doubt he was as hateful and charmless as he comes off in the show. But it's a heavily dramatized/stylized show, so I doubt anyone believes Sinatra tried to stab Mario Puzo with a fork.
That’s fine with me Graham, any talk of Sinatra, in a positive way of course, is good news to any Sinatra fan. The more the merrier.
Sorry all. I tend to be very honest about discussing the people I idolize but I want to keep the vibe positive, so you got it.
I noticed this! I thought that was so cool. Paul is probably the only Beatle who probably owned that record and totally loved it, given his appreciation for music of all eras.
Also, in the Beatles Anthology documentary, Paul says something about the time Sinatra called "Something" (of course a Harrison song) "the finest song that Lennon & McCartney ever wrote." Paul sarcastically says "Thanks for that, Frank."
Nice pic of Mr. S looking happy during a Capitol session: https://dt7v1i9vyp3mf.cloudfront.ne...racks_03-odUA.SAy98Knl2hgZueFYBT9itRBahAp.jpg
