Cant say. But I seem to remember I bought it here in Germany at a decent price and kept it because my wife didnt have a CD player at that time. She had only vinyls.
As discussed in that old thread, it’s not (or no longer) so high-priced. I posted the link for other interesting details provided therein.
Note: Threads discussing Sinatra box sets are here, there, and everywhere… What are the essential Sinatra compilations and box sets from each era?
With Bob's above post in mind, I've reopened the following two threads so if anyone would like to contribute to them please feel free to do so..... Sinatra / Capitol Sound Quality and General Discussion: "All the Way" compilation LP, released 1961 Recreating Sinatra's "The Complete Capitol Singles Collection"
Have 3 of them - the one with Dorsey (the early Sinatra) - The Reprise collection - The Capitol years ... and I think that covers most of his great performances.
A limited edition & a marvellous combination of 2 masters. Archive 2201 - copy # B 91/1000 - The cover gives no Information about rec. dates etc. Why is this a limited edition.
Over the years I’ve read s good bit about Sinatra and a ton on the Beatles - but never came across below. Wonder if it’s true? More info available on this? Thanks Media & CultureEntertainment When Frank Sinatra ‘Collaborated’ With The Beatles; Yes, It Really Happened When Frank Sinatra ‘Collaborated’ With The Beatles; Yes, It Really Happened
I’m not at home now, but I’ll check tomorrow for the session details. I believe all tracks are documented in collector databases.
A Sinatra ear worm today, I could not get this tune out of my head, only a few words of the song kept coming back to me, and I didn’t want to give in to Google but I did, and by just typing “and when you smile at me, of my heart” Google had the answer! “Zing! Went the strings of my heart” well done Google! Now I will listen to the song, now I know what it is LOL!
Mr. Scorsese has to use the man-baby in everything he makes now or it's very tough for him to get the money (I mean he played Howard Hughes fer Christ's Sake, it's ridiculous). Wish he'd get a new meal ticket with a more flexible appearance...
I read the (recent) book on which that's based and I thought it was actually someone else who did that, the fork thing, an executive's wife or an actress / female actor... will check on that one though, I may be 'misremembering' as someone once said.
I've finally found a copy of this wonderful set for a price I was prepared to pay, £40 GBP.... Frank Sinatra In Hollywood (2002, CD) - Discogs
Yes, coordinated by Peter Brown as the article states, recorded in Los Angeles with Sammy Cahn accompanying on piano in presumably early 1968, and pressed on limited acetates as Apple 1: Ringo
It's a beatiful set in all respects, it has a wonderfully informative book and the two discs that I've played so far sound really nice indeed. I would think that with you being based in the USA it should be much easier to pick up a resonably priced copy than it was this side of the pond. Well done to @Granata Chuck and your wonderful team on yet another fabulous Sinatra release. I'm so happy to be fortunate enough to add it to my collection.
Can someone tell me a little more about this set? Is it a Reprise release of licensed recordings from his films of the pre-Reprise era? Or is it just re recordings of songs he sung in the movies he starred in?
