But also, "Right now, I’m working on Sinatra and Ellington (the 1968 album “Francis A. and Edward K.”), which was at Reprise (Sinatra’s post-Capitol label). " That album is begging for a critical reassessment. Save for that rather rough ending to "Come Back With Me," I think it's a top 10 Sinatra album.
I just want to know who took a crack at a remaster in 2013 only for it to get shot down. No link on Amazon UK yet BUT if I copy and paste the ASIN number from Amazon.com to Amazon.co.uk I see a placeholder listing with a date of the 10th October.........for Snow Patrol of course!
The latest on the set - out just an hour ago... 60th Anniversary Edition Of ‘Frank Sinatra Sings For Only The Lonely’ Set For Release BTW, this is my first post here after lurking for over a decade. Rarely felt a need to post as I agree with the group 99.7% of the time, and y'all are way savvier than me. But I am an avid collector of Sinatra, Elvis, and Springsteen and in most cases a staunch "completist" (every note ever recorded by Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby, Sinatra and a number of other pop/jazz vocalists as well as some very obscure artists). Thank you, all, for years of entertainment and education. Now it's time for me to contribute.
It will be released worldwide on October 19. In addition to the 2-LP and 2-CD (deluxe) editions, it appears there will be a single CD release of the stereo mix. See my post at SFF: Amazon Links and Catalog Nos. (60th Anniversary Editions)
Yay! Just pre-ordered Snow Patrol Sings for Only the Lonely. It's going to be a challenging October, in terms of budgeting and time allotment... (how to listen to all the wonderful things coming out that month?)
The Udiscover article referred to on the Sinatra site states in part: "The album’s original mono mix makes its digital release debut..." I guess they missed the MFSL release? Or maybe the MFSL release was not the original mono mix?
Contrary to others I'm hoping for 33 rpm as changing speed for me requires removing the platter and switching the belt from one pulley rung to another. (My 60's 45 rpm singles are played on one of my 60's record players)
Most certainly. The Amazon web page title says “[2 LP]”. I think digital refers to the download (e.g. MP3) and streaming versions. It looks like there will be two “digital” download options: the stereo mix only, and the combined stereo/mono/bonuses expanded edition.
45rpm would be real cool! Got an 45rpm 12 inch Maxi with "New York New York". It's by far the best sounding version in my collection.
No! Please tell me that's a mistake. Why 33 1/3 when they are cutting it over 2 discs? That's a missed opportunity right there.
Do you happen to know if there are any exclusive vinyl pressings that'll be out there? Or new liner notes?
I just hope they don't skimp on the vinyl jacket. Tip-on, gatefold, heavy duty cardboard stock. Do it right.
