I think the original question was directed to a Sinatra/Riddle further collaboration of that type.

With all respect, Pants Party, the original cover is iconic. Whatever one thinks of it, the portrait of Sinatra by Weber was prized enough by Sinatra to hang in his Palm Springs home, and that's good enough for me.

And the cover artwork fits the mood of ALL ALONE perfectly! It literally visualizes the "torch" and the loneliess. Always loved that cover.

I actually like the artwork, just never fond of the likeness in the portrait. I also don't think the orange fits the mood of the album. I just whipped up a "lamp poster" that works for my mood. Didn't mean any offense with my terse post. :D

[ Totally off-topic for this album thread, but as long as you mentioned the artist… ]

Has anyone ever figured out who “Weber” was?

Bold statement. But you haven't created a much better cover, far from it. The original album artwork is aesthetically accomplished, with attention to detail. Yours looks like a cheap grey market cover ;-).

Strangely, the portrait always makes me think of an aging Bing Crosby.

Sorry, but I can't even think of a better cover for "All alone". Sinatra knew what he was doing. And he put a great effort and care into his cover artworks. The artwork fits the mood perfectly and is simply beautiful. And I also think that his persona comes through very well. There's depth to it. To me it represents the desperately burning and flaming torch deep inside.

I’m finding I’m getting awful distortion in louder parts of this record. I’ve never had this issue with other records on this system. Did you find it happened with all of your copies as I don’t want to bother trying multiple copies if it’s always going to be the same.

The constant complaining about the digital version of this record obscures the discussion of the new analog mix for vinyl. The vinyl is stunning, even compared to the original vinyl release (I just picked up minty original). The digital version has been panned so much that I’ve managed to find three copies of the vinyl version in discount bins at local record stores! I’ve purchased all of them.

The new Walsh version for vinyl is great and the mix is not at all surprising if you are familiar with our host’s work with the Nat King Cole and Peggy Lee catalogs. Get the Sinatra title while you still can!

What year was the new Walsh version released? Any chance of a discogs link?

I think it was also streaming on Tidal for a while. Sorry, I can't check, because I no longer use Tidal.

Am I missing something? Isn’t the new stereo mix the same on digital and vinyl? I wasn’t aware there was any actual analogue mix done?

I’ve only heard the vinyl release but I do like it.

Yes, a purely analog remix and remaster for the vinyl.

Are you sure? I thought the LP chain included digital.
