Only a rehearsal - it may well break down.

In my imagination I can hear Nappy singing it. It would really suit his delivery style I think.

When did the version with the extra bit (the 'now I'm getting weak at the knees' one) originate? It's from 1978 on Stage I think but did it originate earlier?

You're a good lad, JT! :righton:

I was hoping for the "Hot Rats" box first but how can you really complain with a setlist and a band like that? The rehearsal is the icing on the cake.

I believe that extra bit goes all the way back to the Flo and Eddie band. There is a boot of unreleased 'Groupie Opera' studio tracks recorded at Trident Studios (I think?) And the 'Magic Fingers on that has the 'weak at the knees' coda).
I would love that session to have an official release - maybe on a 'Chungas Revenge 50th anniversary edition?
Pretty please! **flutters eyelashes at the Vaultmeister**.

Wow. I missed this thread and found out about the set on Spotify of all places. I had some Amazon points to burn, so I was able to snag a pre-order for $42.

The mask is cheesy, but I might as well get it to match my Halloween '77 box.

With all these recent Zappa releases it makes me miss Frank even more.

Yeah, sort of put-off by the over-the-top packaging (where am I going to put that crap?), but I may come around before the end... I mean, Zappa, 1973... the musical content is likely to be pretty great.

Maybe they'll be just a cheaper clam shell release of 4 cds and booklet? For those who don't want the extra stuff.

Great news for those that want it. I buy all the Zappa stuff except these products, where 50% of the cost is the music and 50% is for the music. I love Zappa and am sad that I won’t be able to hear the music. I think The ZFT is doing a great jobless, but I really don’t like these releases that put the focus on the package. Just my opinion as a consumer, and really any FZ is good FZ - have fun folks!

Apart from few different songs, I am not sure what to expect with this release, since it's fairly similar to the Roxy set.
Anyone heard these Chicago concerts before?
For my taste, I prefer the previous concerts with Jean-Luc Ponty (such as Finland August 73 -- Road Tapes Venue #2).

FWIW, they have been good about putting the full sets on Spotify, so they at least aren't completely behind a pricy paywall.

I'm not wild about these costume packages, but they've apparently decided to go with it as a theme for these Halloween sets. I'm a collector idiot, so I'm willing to roll with it. At least with this set, the music is on actual CDs and not a thumb drive that might or might not work in 20 years.

The box design is right, but, what you really need is one of those irrelevant shirts with the picture of Frankie on it that says "Frank Zappa" like those dime store costumes we used to get in grade school.
