FRED WARD was a legend to me. He was one of my top 10 actors. I'm devastated. REMO WILLIAMS is an adventure masterpiece, and a big cult classic. In Italy, it was a huge success. TIMERIDER is one of the most wonderful time travel movies in history. I loved each role that he played in his astonishing career & life. You're my hero, Fred. Rest in peace.
Loved him in loads of films, but Tremors is supreme!!!!! I will miss him! Great actor. Loved his detective role in the Keanu Reeves movie (cant remember its name, energy from water) where he knows the thing was a setup from the first minute. Really nice touch.
"I DID NOT do anything wrong!! The hatch just blew, it was a glitch, a technical malfunction! Why in hell won't anybody believe me?!" A small but powerful scene in The Right Stuff by a great actor. I'll miss him...
The first Tremors movie was definitely my favorite of his, but I liked him in just about everything he was in that I saw. Other favorites were Escape From Alcatraz and The Right Stuff.
An actor I was always glad to see, who gave us some memorable work in The Right Stuff and Henry & June, among others. RIP, Mr. Ward.
Fred Ward helped elevate every single film he was in. Highly underrated and unpredictable, you never knew where he was going to pop up. He was a man’s man who never went “Hollywood.” “****in’ A, Bubba!” RIP
One of the coolest tough-guy man's-man actors, a diminishing breed. Stacks of great performances of course (Southern Comfort is one of my all-time favourites)... but I'll be the one to mention his role as Rocco Dillon in The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult. I love that stupid movie. Thanks for all you gave Fred.
He was awesome as the dad in Secret Admirer(I think there's a still from the movie on the first page). Dan
Earl from Tremors will always be the role i associate him with the most... he was maybe my favourite character in that film. He was also very funny in Naked Gun 33 1/3. RIP
First played attention to him in "Uncommon Valor" then after became a big admirer of his. Sorry to hear this, John..
https://twitter.com/kevinbacon/status/1525203045520265216 Kevin Bacon @kevinbacon So sad to hear about Fred Ward. When it came to battling underground worms I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. I will always remember chatting about his love of Django Reinhardt and jazz guitar during our long hot days in the high desert. Rest In Peace Fred.
Fred in the video for Filter's song "The Best Things." He's in it because the video was a tie-in to The Crow: Salvation, which he was in - there's also blink-and-you'll-miss-them appearances from a couple of other Salvation actors who went onto much bigger & better things, Kirsten Dunst and Walton Goggins..
Fred played the protagonist (perfectly) in what was Alec Baldwin's greatest film, Miami Blues: Miami Blues (1990, George Armitage) Alec Baldwin kills a Hare Krishna - Bing video
A wonderful, warm actor. I first saw him in SOUTHERN COMFORT, loved him in REMO WILLIAMS and THE RIGHT STUFF.
Talk about clueless, one webbie writing about Fred Ward's death first described him as "The "Joe Dirt" actor". Good grief! Yeah, he was in both "Joe Dirt" and "Corky Romano" in 2001 but in 1990 he did "Henry and June", "Tremors" and "Miami Blues". Later he was great in a small part in the (to me) overlooked "Thunderheart". "Remo Williams" was a interesting film despite the painful to watch yellowface part played by Joel Grey. That film and "Henry and June" flopping pretty much relegated Ward to support roles. RIP one of the great character actors. He always seemed taller than he actually was ;-).
