Thanks again, after sifting through the site I had to pull out my Heavy Load book. Once I start it’s like pulling out the baseball encyclopedia when I was a kid and I just get deeper in from what I originally went to look up.
If you could only own one "Live" CD, which one would it be? I assume I'll just go with the standard Free Live! unless there's a better widely available CD?
Does anyone have this Free Pop Chronik 2 lp set from Germany? I have never seen a copy It has a similar track listing to The Free Story but it has more tracks. It has a nice live photo of the band on the back. I am not sure how many of the songs on this one are live. It omits these songs from The Free Story Mourning Sad Mourning Lady Sail On Come Together In The Morning It adds these songs not included on The Free Story. The Highway Song Sunny Day Ride On A Pony Wishing Well Travellin' In Style Muddy Water

Okay, seeing as how we're getting so ocd can anyone verify if the tracks on the Songs of Yesterday 5cd box set Promo CD - FREECD1 are exactly the same as on the box set? This should go on for a few days? I have this promo cd but can't be a**ed checking. Anything? https://www.amazon.co.uk/FREE-SONGS-YESTERDAY-TRACK-SAMPLER/dp/B006VE8JFW#
The version of Hold On on the Kossoff- Blue Soul 1986 compilation is a different mix again. (Blue Soul also includes the 1974 Frankie Miller-Kossoff-Fraser number I Don’t Know Why The Sun Don’t Shine, also slated for the 5CD 2000 box but nixed by Fraser although it had already been released here!)
That is why I was curious about it. I wondered if any of the cuts were live versions. It looks like a cool release.
I think I got my copy around the same time, probably from the late, lamented SOUNDS on St. Marks Place in NYC. Man, that place was used vinyl heaven! I really miss it. I'm not sure if there were different versions of this album. Mine has the live Heartbreaker, and Toby's "Travellin' Man."
Nope I do not have one. Looks a lovely package. Any one with a bit of go in them would put stuff like that out for RSD to keep the band name alive.
There needs to be an updated Free Forever release on Blu-Ray. Enough time has passed that an upgraded release reflecting video remastering would be warranted. The inclusion of a few extant filmed or videotaped performances that were originally overlooked or unearthed in the interim could be added as a sweetener. IMO, the original layout and packaging of this DVD set was awesome, the Granada telecast being the centerpiece. Maybe I’m wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised if additional material can’t be squeezed out of the Free vaults, including digging up a bit more international appearance footage. A new release in a higher definition format would provide an even better picture of this historically relevant group. That’s my opinion and mileage. Cat
