Indeed, but they sampled a lot of funky black records, Hendrix for example...

Beck - huge Prince fan Beck has made some pretty funky records. My favourite funky Beck record is "Where It's At" (you know - "two turntables and a microphone"). Found on the Odelay album along with "Devil's Haircut" (includes a James Brown horn blast sample).

Trapeze - "Midnight Flyer" from their 1974 lp "Hot Wire".

Why the video shows cover to "Medusa" I don't know

Just my opinion: All of these artists, great as they were or are, run second place to Average White Band.
I'm adding the criminally underrated Ned Doheny, who collaborated with AWB's Hamish Stuart to write some great tracks ("A Love of Your Own" among others).

To Prove My Love - Ned Doheny (1981)

Let’s not forget the funkiest of them all...
Apache - The Incredible Bongo Band

(all white apart from said bongo player, King Errisson, I believe).

One of my favorites, and a killer example of fantastic funk grooves in very unusual time signatures (19/16 and 21/16):

Frank Zappa - "Keep It Greasey"

In 1970 I really dug Rare Earth's "I Know I'm Losing You" which was out in the summer of that year...I bought the 45 in early 1971 in my very early record buying days. I'm posting the mono 45 version...one of the loudest 45s I ever picked up on. I also picked up the album it was on, "Ecology" around the same time.

They were black, Hispanic and white...great band! "Sparkling In the Sand" from their first LP is my favorite track of theirs.
