I was there yesterday (Monday) from about 6:00 to 7:00 PM

Bought 2 T Rex CDs (1 was an upgrade).

Tried to send an email to Phil's records and it bounced back.

Well, I would caveat that with Half Price Books, but it isn't a whole lot better than Goodwill or Salvation Army. But ya never know what you might find!

BTW, if anyone ventures out to Omega Records, make sure you get out of the area before dark! A few months back someone got murdered real close to there.:shake:

I used to know Gary at Omega, and before he started selling all his good stuff on Ebay, it was a decent store.

Need to send out props to Josh, owner of Toxic Records in Yellow Springs! Josh has done me right with a couple of stacks of trades of used vinyl. He's a great guy to chat with too. Good selection, but not huge. You need to get on your hands and knees and crawl around to look at his bargin bin stuff, but you'll find some good quality stuff their!

I don't count HPB as they have moved to Beavercreek.

In all the years I was going to Omega, I was never in the area after dark.
Also there is the 'Forest Park' flea market a bit up the road from Omega.
It's like a giant Salvation army.

Do you remember a record store on Brown Street?
It was about a 1 1/2 blocks from Second time around.
His previous location was on the corner of Wyoming Street &
    Indiana Avenue.
    Can't recall his name.
    He sold mainly vinyl.
I remember after he closed the Brown street store,
I think it became a pizza place.

Just found out that Gary from Omega music moved into the old Gem City building in Dayton. Unfortunately he died on Thursday. RIP Gary. We used to call him the "Santa Claus of records".

Do you remember a place called Trader Vic's Music Exchange.
IIRC, It used to be on Brown St. (down the street from 2nd time around).
After Vic left it was turned into a Pizza place.

I've heard of it, never went. Moles Records near OSU campus in Columbus, was the best I've been to in Ohio. Its no longer around in Columbus. They have one in Cincy - but its very unorganized and most of their stuff isn't priced - you have to ask!

Just spent the afternoon shopping for vinyl in the Oregon district of Dayton. Omega had tons of vinyl. Another store around the corner is owned by the guy who owned Gem city and also had a great selection. If you are in the area stop by and support these guys.

I picked up a nice original Prestige label Gene Ammons "Boss Tenor" for $10 and a few others!

Any good shops for new/used CDs in the Dayton or Cinci areas?

The only place I know of in that area is Omega.
Was just down there yesterday & picked up a few T Rex vinyls for my collection.

There is a place one or two blocks to the west on 5th st, called Feathers. They have used records, but they were still around when Gem City was still around. Feathers doesn't have too much and a lot of it seems higher priced, but still a worthwhile look.

I think I heard someone mention this place before (though not by name) when I was at 'Gem City'.

I went to the new store owned by the Gem City guy, it's nice. I found my MCH SACD of "Sympathy for the Devil" there. Nice guy too. Omega is nice as well, I go there often.
