Was this the only one released separately?

All of the remixes with DVDs were released separately except for Lamb. In addition to that, none of the Gabriel-era CD/DVD sets were released separately in the US, though CD only versions are available. Trick and the post-Abacab albums are the only ones that are still in print.

They all were released separately except the bonus (b-sides) discs in the box sets.

EDIT: @Diablo Griffin beat me to the punch with more info.

I didn't even know such a move was allowed in professional pressing

DE were denoised and smiled, but not compressed.

Also NR in DE is not the same in each album: It's progressively better as the series goes on. The first albums were the worse offended.

Which is what matters as far as this thread is concerned. Same digital source, no additional EQ, each track level shifted, clipping on some tracks. Basically the same sound, when it comes to mastering's identification. Any difference given by clipping is a minor one here.

Diablo, thanks for taking all of the trouble to rip, edit, upload, link and start this thread.

I too am surprised at the results.
    At first.
    Then I re-listened.
The samples seem to favor the best parts of A over C.
I believe with different, and perhaps longer samples, the results would be very different.

While the DE isn't a disaster, the Atco Japan for US (supposedly the same as the US for US) is still, by far, the best of the lot when comparing the actual cd's here at home.
Except for Entangled - which is too loud on the Atco and DE, but so much better on the German.

I just wanted to add that the Glitch on the Atco cd ( Dropout on the right channel on the track Squonk --- on 1:13 after the word too.... is also on the early V/C cd . The only way for me to listen to this great song without the drop-out is on the De 1994 cd , at least until I will able to get the Blue Face Germany cd or the Yellow Rays cd/ Currently I have 3 A Trick of The Tail cds: Atco,V/C ,DE.

Here's an auction for the Yellow Rays CD. It's cheaper than the one on Discogs right now.

Thank you very much Diablo Griffin for the link :righton:
I also have a friend who have the cd and I am trying to convince him to sell the cd to me,
if I couldn't convince him then I will order the cd through your link, thanks for the effort:cool:
I wonder how the German cds don't include the dropout, probably different source?

Well now I like the Yellow Rays CD the best. It just gets better with each listen. Since I'm trying to get rid of most of my 'repeat' CDs, I'm not sure if I need to keep the Atco anymore.

I’ve got the Canadian Atco 7567-82688-2.

How would that one rank vs. others?

That's the Definitive Edition Remaster. Despite it winning the poll on this thread, it's generally not well-liked here. I've even seen some comments stating that it's one of the worst DEs. I don't think it's bad TBH, though the older CDs do have more balanced EQ.

I'm surprised the DE wins over the Charisma, to me the Charisma is much better sounding.

The results challenge your philosophical biases against the Genesis Definitive Editions series, apparently.

No, I just think the Charisma sounds much better.

Well, I ordered a cheap copy off Discogs to check it out as my system has differed since I last heard/owned it.
