Big fan but didn't get tickets for the reunion tour that was announced for this year though had been really looking forward to seeing how it went. Now with Covid-19 postponing the tour and no sign of rescheduled dates yet (despite many other bands rescheduling for 2021) like a lot of fans I'm concerned it won't happen at all.

Do you think it will and why/why not?

Why are you concerned if you didn't actually buy tickets?

It will happen, but probably not this year.
All dates will be postponed till next year.

The Musical Box is a good show until we get a reunion...

No I do not expect any musicians in their 70s or older to mount a large scale tour again excepting those who are in such dire financial straits that they have to risk their life and those of their fans and support staff in this way.

This is not just simply Genesis related - but what will be bloody annoying is for those who also booked hotels at the same time as buying their tickets - because the concert tickets may still be valid when they reschedule - but without fail the hotels will reopen by then and will still expect you to be there (and of course offer no refunds)

    1. It would be sad for those who do have tickets
    2. I was interested to see how the tour went and hoped they might extend to Europe.
    3. Not rescheduling it would suggest that the Covid situation could imply health concerns preventing it happening.

I don't see how an auditorium full of thousands of people standing right next to each other is going to work in this day and age. And with performers in their late 60s/early 70s, is this not risky for their own health?

Unless you get everyone to social distance and wear masks : )

I think it will happen....but, about a year later than currently planned.

It won't happen as planned. It will be rescheduled or canceled, depending on how Phil's health holds up.

I'm afraid by the time they can actually do the dates, it'll be too late.

I am (was) due to see both Elton John and Genesis towards the end of this year. Two shows for each in Dublin and one show for each in Belfast. Elton has now postponed until December 2021. I expect the same will happen with Genesis but it’s impossible to say given the times we live in.

Anyone reckon they could end up doing a TV special or something similar if they don't tour?

Does Phil live in Switzerland or the States these days? I think him having to travel to the UK might be a factor, obviously depending on if there are second waves of Covid. I think the other two live in England but presumably Daryl lives in the States as well.

Seems much more viable. But it would be a lot of work to out in prepping for a TV show - so they would have to be offered a ton of money for it - and I don't know that there is enough demand to support such a fee.

I don't think so. I don't think arena sized live shows will return until the late summer or early fall of 2021 (at the earliest). Between that and Phil's declining health, I think that ship has sailed.

He has a selective enough draw that he could play live again

It will probably happen next year. If covid is still a problem, they'll just book them in stadiums and sell half/quarter of the tickets so the crowd can 'social distance.'
