Just Wot Gorilla. I enjoy Spot the Pigeon but I don't think you could cram all three tracks into the space vacated by Wot Gorilla (although I have 78-minute long CDs, so you probably could).

My favorite Genesis album. I'd leave it alone.

However, I would love it to be a double album and add the Spot the Pidgeon songs to the running order. In a perfect world, this would be my Wind & Wuthering:

    Side 1
    Eleventh Earl Of Mar 7:44
    Pigeons 3:10
    Inside And Out 6:42

    Side 2
    Match Of The Day 3:23
    One For The Vine 10:00
    Your Own Special Way 6:18

    Side 3
    Wot Gorilla? 3:19
    All In A Mouse's Night 6:38
    Blood On The Rooftops 5:27

    Side 4
'Unquiet Slumbers For The Sleepers ... 2:23
... In That Quiet Earth' 4:49
    Afterglow 4:12

I like the flow. Side 4 is a little short. Moving Match of the Day to the first track of side 4 would work as well and give all sides more even timing. My favorite Genesis period is the 4 man lineup. This was their best.

Edit: thinking about it, I really like moving Match to the opening of side 4. Gives a little shot in the arm to the running order and puts each side at about 16 minutes. A full album with great sonics. Maybe I'll burn a cd of it and see how it works.

Remove the lyrics from All in a Mouse’s Night

Do a reprise of blood on the Rooftops before the closing suite

You desperately need Tresspass if you like pastoral Genesis

Inside and Out would have kicked off Side 2. The Spot The Mouse E.P. would have been a Top 10 hit. Are we allowed to add songs from Please Don't Touch to make a double LP?

Missed opportunity for a deluxe edition of W&W.

    Disc 1
    Original album remixed/remastered.
    Spot The Pigeon EP
Steve Hackett demos that ended up on Please Don't Touch

    Disc 2
Live concert from the 1977 tour

That would be have been a brilliant set.

This is a great idea! I've never heard anyone propose a double album of W&W before. I like the way you think! :righton:

This is also a great idea! I had previously added songs to Seconds Out and re-tracked it to reproduce the actual set list. It came out really well and is the version I listen to today.

    Ok....
Replace YOSW with "Match of the Day"
Replace "Wot?" with "Inside and Out"
    Replace AIAMN "Pigeons"

Frankly, this ought to be the case for the entire Genesis catalogue.

Possibly the one Genesis album I wouldn’t change. I don’t think Match Of The Day or Pigeons fit the record. Inside and Out would work but the album is slightly too long for vinyl already. Adding this would put the album into “Selling England...” territory.

Same here. Even though I like "Match" better than some of the LP tracks, the album works as is.

Only "Wot Gorilla?" got my vote. I'm not that rapt in "Unquiet Slumber" and ":Quiet Earth", but they're OK if treated as an instrumental interlude leading up to the finale.

"Blood on the Rooftops" is a song concerning "the tedium and repetitiveness of television news and the overall mocking disgust that must sometimes accompany watching the news happen".[4] The music to its chorus was written by Collins with Hackett writing the music to the verses, song's lyrics and its classical guitar introduction.[24]

I think it's interesting that Phil wrote the music for the chorus as that bit is much more 'powerful' than the verse music. Shows that even as early as 1976, Phil was flexing his writing muscles big time and nobody should have been surprised when Face Value hit.

Blood... is one of my favorite Genesis songs, and that’s saying a lot. Perfect guitar work by Steve didn’t hurt it either!

I love the whole album - except “My Own Special Way”. I always skip that, otherwise nothing

I love cranking up Wot Gorilla. For some strange reason that track resonates. As an ex-soccer player you'd think I would be drawn to MOTD, but it's never been essential Genesis for me.

I have to think Steve Hackett's acoustic work had an influence on Phil's much later We Fly So Close.

I wouldn't remove any songs. I'd instead make this a double, adding:

All of Spot the Pigeon EP
    It's Yourself
Please Don't Touch and maybe another Hackett tune. I don't know when he wrote Clocks or Spectral Mornings, but those tunes would have really been great as Genesis tracks.
Longer version of Wot Gorilla, as it sounds like an excerpt from a longer jam that was shortened to fit on the album.
Silver Song, which was still floating around at the time.

With a double, perhaps they would have done a bit more songwriting and come up with even more songs.

It just occurred to me: "Wuthering" is an example of a verb that only ever seems to occur as the present continuous participle. We never hear of something being wuthered, for example. In fact, how does one wuther?
