I think Slayer doesn't faze me anymore because I listened to them so much as a teenager Good stuff, just not particularly scary
I could be wrong about this but I think all those tv shows and movies (like "Dirty Harry" for example) were influenced by the new "jazz fusion" sound created on BB and it then became the "current sound"
No, that type of thing was all through episodes of The Saint, The Avengers, Department S,... loads of 50s and early 60s movies.
The Ripper by neo-proggers Pallas. I believe they were banned from playing The Marquee in London for playing this, which involved lots of theatrics involving fake blood.
If you want something that is truly disturbing and scary, listen to Stalaggh. The group recorded actual screams from real-life mental patients. I won't post samples as it's absolutely scary that only a few can really stomach it.
And here's another one from Propergol's Ground Proximity Warning System, which is pretty much power electronics/death industrial. The album revolves around airline disasters with samples from the Charlie Victor Romeo play (Charlie Victor Romeo - Wikipedia ) and recorded audio from actual cockpit voice recorder moments before the crash (most prominently the Japan Airlines Flight 123 in the track, "Alert and Collision Avoidance System"). Truly disturbing and STRONGLY not recommended who have a fear of airline flights.
Metallica - "Enter Sandman" I have nights like this and was taught by my parents to recite the same prayer.
I think that was Mark-Almond, the duo of Jon Mark and Johnnie Almond (previously in John Mayall's band), not to be confused with the singer Marc Almond
The Misfits - Theme For a Jackal most Misfits songs are catchy and kind of silly while being about creepy/scary things. This one actually sounds threatening. The way the bassline and piano just repeat and repeat while Danzig seems to go through the thoughts of a murderer really gets under my skin. I was in a band that covered this once and I felt very uncomfortable singing it.
Even after people are saying they can’t see what the unlabeled videos are due to locations people are still not labeling videos…cool. Nurse With Wound - Beetle Crawls Across My Back
Thank you to everyone who has commented so far, I'm slowly working my way through these recommendations as we get closer to Halloween!
Here's a YT playlist of some spooky songs I made a while back https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMBJhMvC2ovNdazdthLzx2PagFKimefj5
