Cool. A negative post before we even see the track listing. Peak sh.tv, right here.

I’m not sure why they’d need 3CDs for the album, unless they’re putting the Apple Jam stuff on its own disc. But doesn’t seem very efficient

Unless it’s just an error in the article

You think putting sides 1-2 on cd1 and sides 3-6 on cd2 makes sense? Really?

Why not put sides 1-4 on cd1 (they fit), and then you have what most people consider to be the standard “album” on a single disc. That’s too “negative” to bring up?

Agreed - It’s a double album and should be on 2cds.

All of the jam stuff (released and unreleased) can go on a 3rd cd.

Then all of the studio outtakes or demos can fill cds 4 and 5.

I agree, the sides across the 2 CDs should have been thought out a little better. It’s like they wanted to split it between lp 1 and 2 but couldn’t commit to a 3cd release. Oh well.

It doesn’t seem to make sense..assuming that’s how it will be as it may be different when we see the track listing. It’s just that this place can’t enjoy anything for more than 15 mins before negativity creeps in. it’s like clockwork.

From the info I've been gathering here:
    CD1 sides 1-2
    CD2 sides 3-6
    CD3 day 1 demos
CD4 day 2 demos (aka Beware of ABKCO)
    CD5 Session Outtakes and Jams

I'm betting that's a typo. Based on pics we've seen, the original 3lp is on 2 CDs, leaving 3 CDs for outtakes, rarities and demos.

It's possible that the tree had to come down for other reasons, and they just put its bits to good [?] use...

Thanks to those involved for not mixing vinyl and CDs in the sets aside from the uber set. Definitely in for the five CD/Blu-ray set.

  13. I’m not complaining too much but the 5cd set which is what I’m interested in doesn’t stack up as great value in comparison to the equivalent for John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band.
50% more expensive,6 discs compared to 8 and the book looks a bit lame in comparison to the 132 page hardcover with the Lennon set.
The market will decide I guess.

I know it’s such a minor detail, but I hope they have the reflective gold-foil lettering on the box spine, as featured on the original LP pressings. Drab, matte-finish, gold/brown-colored lettering just ain’t the same.

That's a beautiful Uber set. If George is your musical hero or $1,000 is not a lot of money to you, I'd say it's worth it.

I always wondered what George used the lake at Friar Park for. Now we know.

If they spread the 3 LPs across 3 CDs, we would [rightly, I think] complain about their wasted capacity.

I think they are right to put 3LPs onto 2CDs.

    The split? Well...
The first CD edition had 1+2+3 / 4+5+6. But that strands side 4 with the jams. People didn't like it.
On the 2001 edition, some people apparently didn't like the bonus tracks along with the original tracks.
If 1-4 was on CD1, the second CD would never [or rarely] be played [and the first CD might be considered overlong by some]...
If you don't like the sides 1+2 / 3+4+5+6 division, how about if they put one of the jam sides at the end of each CD? 1+2+5 / 3+4+6? No, that's stupid, too? Well, what would you have them do??? [There aren't a lot of options left to try....]

Once we get an official track listing, I’d be curious to see if this supersedes all the ATMP material on Early Takes Vol 1.

I'm just grateful that Jeff Lynne didn't have anything to do with this.

Great image! I don’t recall having seen this before. Source? In-store promotion for the single?

Divisive ?: Do you consider Apple Jam to be "part of the album" or not?

Spizer writes about it in his Apple Solo book. Apparently designed by Tom Wilkes, George was “a bit taken aback” by the image, and only five proofs of it were made.
“He had concerns about the images of him in the sky and the blond maiden.”
That’s about all I know. To me, it’s just an interesting footnote, like that image done for the White Album that similarly wasn’t used...

NOTE: Spizer goes into a lot more descriptive detail about the image, and symbolism, in his book.
