How do you mean? He's got the NHS, right? There are much, much sadder medical outcomes in this country. And I didn't see anything in that article that suggested financial need, unless I missed something.

Does he? Sorry. :D I just assumed he was living in the UK. One of the quotes was that he was "in hospital," as opposed to "in the hospital," the latter being how the situation is referred to in the U.S.

edit: But I'm still not seeing the financial need aspect. Hell, I'd contribute to his GoFundMe or whatever.

I saw him when he was drummer with hawkwind!! way back around 80. He played an amazing drum solo and i dont normally like them.
I like the shot of him on the cream live albert hall bluray where, after Clapton playing a mindbending solo in stormy monday, he look at Clapton in awe and just nods. Enough said.
    A class drummer.

Why dislike Ginger Baker? I have a drummer friend who can't stand the man because of some things he said about John Bonham. Fair enough point. I can't stand bullies and people who hit other people. Totally strong point for me. But for all the nasty things the man has said, for all the bully-like qualities, there just something so damn forthright about the man, I can't help but- at least in some ways- respect him a lot.

Plus he's one of my all-time favorite drummers. Take away all the extraneous non-music stuff, and there you have it- sonic gold!

    Be well, Mr. Baker!

Even people who are upset by his rudeness and all that have got to admit that a world without Ginger would be a sad world indeed. Fortunately we aren't in that world yet, as we feared we would be.

Apparently you were there too. There were quite a few great gets over the last 10 years or so until about a year ago. Too bad Havanas went to mostly booking tribute bands instead of original bands.

Happened to be walking by there last night and it sounded like an Allman's tribute.

Total fluke. Don't even remember how I found out. There was a about a 5- year period where they were getting some incredible bands. Not sure what happened after that.

Thanks for those Cream LPs formed as they formed a large part of the soundtrack of my youth.

Not unexpected but sad. Cream were the first band I listened to, as a schoolboy around 1972, where I thought “Yeah, this is adult music”. Only Eric left now. Makes me feel my own mortality.
