I don’t want this to be another thread where you just post things about artists you don’t like, instead tell me your unpopular opinions on artists you do like.

I’ll start with saying Medulla is a top three Björk album

TBYML is no where near being PJ Harvey’s best.

Hello Earth is Kate Bush’s best song.

Great song! I treat The Ninth Wave as one whole piece...an utter masterpiece.

3 unpopular opinions (for some) on my favourite 3 bands:

    1) Yes...haven't recorded a great album since Going For The One.
    2) Genesis...Steve Hackett's departure was just as harmful as Gabriel's exit.
    3) Floyd - Despite my best efforts, I can get over the feeling that Atom Heart Mother (a number one smash) is a bit of a mess.

A good deal of the artists/bands that I love are not popular enough to have unpopular opinions.

"Tell Me" is probably the most underrated Rolling Stones song, as well as their best melody.

Good Singin' Good Playin' is Grand Funk's best album.

Presence is an excellent Zep album.

    Time is ELO's worst album

Geddy Lee has an outstanding voice and is an essential part of what makes Rush great. Jon Anderson has a weak voice which can be a distraction from otherwise superlative Yes music.

Arena Rock Kinks is as valid a period in their history as any other.

Long Distance Voyager is up there with The moodies' core seven. Similarly, Crest of a Knave deserves to be mentioned alongside Jethro Tull's best. Ditto Santana's Zebop!

Foghat's Stone Blue and Energized are both better than Fool for the City.

The best Kiss album from the non-makeup years is -- far and away -- the much maligned Carnival of Souls.

My favorite album by Kate Bush is The Sensual World

I like Flesh & Blood by Roxy Music better than Avalon

I like Wave by Patti Smith better than Easter

'Pin Ups' doesn't get enough love. A great covers album.
    Wish Bowie had done another.

I like Elton John's Victim Of Love more than Madman Across The Water...

Renaissance had a lot of good songs, but their albums have a lot of filler...

Anthony Miles's Wolf Companions is the most beautiful song of all time...

The Beatles are overrated. Good, but still very overrated...

The Alan Parsons Project are more Smooth Rock than Prog Rock...

    Ditto.
'Avalon' is too much of a snoozefest. Sounds good and all but lacks grit. 'Flesh +Blood' sounds good and has grit.

I think Roxy Music's debut album is better than David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust.

    Released just two weeks apart

The Grateful Dead were better in the studio than they were on stage.

  15. Mr. Moonlight is a fantastic performance by the Beatles. John's vocals alone make this one a stunner.

The most unpopular opinion I could ever express about artists I like is that I like them, regardless of who wants me to hate them.

Also released in that time period was John and Yoko's ' Sometime In New York City'.
One of these is truly unlike the other two.

Willie Nelson is primarily seen as a country artist, but he’s really his own subgenre (much of which can be lumped under the umbrella of country). He’s like Duke Ellington, in that he’s produced a body of work so huge and eclectic that it defies categories. Calling him a country artist is a bit of an oversimplification.

Byrdmaniax and Farther Along are both good albums. The worst Byrds album is Untitled.

I like Smiley Smile and Wild Honey better than any of the surviving Smile recordings.

Speaking of the Beach Boys and Willie Nelson, Stars & Stripes Vol. 1 is actually a decent album with several highlights. And Carl Wilson's self-titled debut is better than Brian Wilson's.

    John Coltrane's Om is excellent.

Joe Lovano's recent ECM albums with 'Trio Tapestry' are some of the best he's ever made.

Well it’s amazing just how many of these ‘unpopular’ opinions I agree with so far. Absolutely love ‘Tell Me’ ( long and short versions), have always thought ‘Mr Moonlight’ was Lennon’s most exciting vocal, dig ‘Carnival of Souls’ and would rate Roxy’s debut and ‘Wave’ in the same way...
Not having it with stadium Kinks though. Let’s not get carried away...

    Yeah. I know..
I mean these two are though of as "the" ultimate glam albums. Probably along with T Rex -Electric Warrior.

Roxy and Ziggy are both great albums. I just prefer Roxy.

Agreed, I find it to be a little tedious. I actually prefer The Top. You get a better mix of pop gloss and grit there. How's that for an unfashionable opinion?

I cannot listen in depth to the John Lennon Plastic Ono Band album as it is too introspective for me

I am no great fan of the Bowie Berlin trilogy as a body of work. The odd song yes the albums no.

Sir Elton’s Rocket Man I hope the long long time never arrives.
