Does anyone make archival-quality gold CD blanks for use with consumer/digital audio recorders? I've seen silver Mitsui's, but no gold...

I use these Gold discs exclusively on my important projects. I began using them in 1998 and I have never had one fail.

Hi Don, I've used Mitsui gold. Check this site for sales periodically depending how fast you need them and compare cost against what Bob suggested. Mitsui gold on this page:

I've bought from this site before. Never had a problem.

    Mud,

Thanks for the link - very nice to have. I did not see any 80 minute Gold discs that include jewel boxes. Perhaps, I missed them. I purchase the Quantegy's for $1.18 per unit and a standard jewel box with blank insert is included...

Both Mitsui and Quantegy are fine discs.

    Bob :)

Bob, what I do is buy them by the spindle and go to a place here called Microcenter. They sell jewel cases for 19cents each. I buy 'em buy the box! 200!

They had a HUGE sale at that website and I was able to pick up 600 Mitsui Golds for like 25 cents apiece. :D They have great sales. Members can join the mailing list.

Yes. Also the kind you can run through a printer. I think Mitsui stopped making 'em and they got a great deal on them in bulk.

MFSL is making gold blanks. Steve grabbed some at the CES.

I'm familiar with Quantegy (use their tape!) as well as Mitsui discs... but do they make gold blanks you can use in stand-alone "digital audio" units, not computer burners? I can't seem to find 'em.

The MFSL blank's are the same as the Mitsui's. At least that is what AM - digital told me. Seriously even if it isnt why pay $2 to MFSL for a lift-lock jewel case ($.30 ?) and the mitsui blank's at under $.90 shipped?

I'll have to ask music direct if the are the same. It will be interesting to hear what they have to say.

You can use the computer-type blanks in the pro standalone decks.

Nero will also identify the type of blank you use.

I use Quantegy's and I have a stand-alone CD Recorder as pictured below. This unit likes Gold discs, Colored discs [Cool Colors, Black] and some other discs on a case-by-case basis. I believe for this unit, "dye" is critical.
