It's worth it for the 2018 remix of NLMD which is totally transformational. New drums, musicians....it's now de-80s-fyed and really is a great listen. They sell for quite a lot online as the 2LP set is only available in this box. Same with the vinyl of Serious Moonlight. That one had me in tears as was the very first Bowie gig I saw. Enjoy! :)

I was in my late teens during this period so these three albums were on the radio all the time. I have a soft spot for them, even the original NLMD, though admittedly I have not listened to it for years. I am amongst the few that really enjoyed the Glass Spider tour even though I was bewildered by much of it. Saw it at Giants Stadium and MSG. Serious Moonlight and Glass Spider had great musicians and great, but slick, performances. Very 80s rock though... I'm definitely looking forward to the box, especially at this price!

My box arrived today, double boxed with the set in the original shipping box with styrofoam inserts. Label says Optimal Media GmbH 15 LP project Lawrence TBC 83-92, dated 8/29/2018. Reminds me of the old days of laserdisc box sets arriving in the mail!!

I just ordered this one at $14.99:
    Looks to be this pressing
Max Roach Trio Featuring The Legendary Hasaan

Scott Yanow, AMG: "Pianist Hasaan Ibn Ali only made one recording in his life, this trio set with drummer Max Roach and bassist Art Davis. A very advanced player whose style fell somewhere between Thelonious Monk and Cecil Taylor (with hints of Herbie Nichols), Hasaan actually had a rather original sound. His performances on his seven originals here are intense, somewhat virtuosic and rhythmic, yet often melodic in a quirky way. This is a classic of its kind, and it's a tragedy that Hasaan would not record again and would soon sink back into obscurity."

Yes, which bodes well for it! I'm not familiar with the music, but it sounds like something I will like. Here's a reader review from AMG:

"Max Roach and Art Blakey are fast becoming my new Jazz idols. The amount of talent they nurtured is insane. This, for example. Max Roach must have been one hell of a guy. This is a literal lost masterpiece. Except, I suspect, to the 5 people who bought it when it came out. An outstanding album. This guy is just incredible. He reminds me of Herbie Nichols crossed with Cecil Taylor and Monk, with just a soupçon of Art Tatum blended in, with a little extra caffeine. Also, Bud Powell stopped by, he wants the 11:30 slot."

Be careful. I bought this the last time that Amazon had it on sale. The first copy I received was open
(no shrink) and the contents spilled out all over the place. Plus, it was missing some of the contents.
Amazon took care of it, thankfully.
