The recent pressing of Out of the Afternoon is pretty cheap right now. Out Of The Afternoon [LP] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NMMLMGG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8M.1Db9A1MG4M
This album has been near this price for a while. It is Hiatt's best record in a long time. Unfortunately, my copy was very out of round. I solved the problem with a rat tail file and an arrow on each label showing "push this way." But at this price, I'd buy another copy if it was in round. Anybody else experience my issue with this title? I frankly wondered if it was this cheap because they are all out of round.
Please do and report back. Mine was so bad I had to fix it. The music on the innermost grooves warbled.
My copy looks well centered. I do think I will run it through a cycle in my VinylFlat though. It plays fine, but has a slight warp; the VF works well on new 180gm records like this one.
back on at $73 or less https://www.amazon.com/Sony-SSCS5-3-Driver-Bookshelf-Speaker/dp/B00O8YLMVA?tag=mfconvert-20&th=1
Aaaaaand Lonnie Smith's "Think!" is down to $14.82 now - they're practically begging you to plop it on your turntable platter (I daresay most of us here would enjoy it, too!). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R9J9DFL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Looking at my Amazon account, I had forgotten that my copy of John Hiatt's Eclipse Sessions is the second badly out of round one I'd received. The first one was returned. I'm not going back to Amazon. It would be my luck that I'd get a third one. The $7-8 price on Amazon seems to be gone now, anyway. Walmart has it for $14 if I want to order a new copy from them. I'm going to check around a bit more as there is no hurry. Because of my rat tail file solution, one I've used for decades, I have a copy that plays roughly in round. The emphasis is on "rough." It is a really great record by John Hiatt if you haven't heard it.
sheesh, that's such a good deal. hopefully everyone here who's been sleepin' on this one will grab it now.
With that logic, if a lone LP was found to have a defect then every single copy of that same pressing from every retailer would also be affected. There have been posts claiming fine copies of that record.
Talk is Cheap is a great album. Glad to own it again. P.S. I hear that Latheofheaven is cheap too (and easy).
