I just got Stanley Turrentine's That's Where It's At LP. It was in a separate mailer and boxed and still had a 3"-4" seam split on the top. I put in for an exchange and Amazon had one on my doorstep the next day (arrived perfect!). Dropped the damaged one off at Kohl's and got their 25% off discount coupon on any in store item for my troubles. Kohl's around the block from my house. :D

I continue to have excellent luck with Amazon record packaging. I’ve purchased 20+ albums this year and all have come in a quality cardboard mailer set inside a larger box with bubble wrap. Sorry that others are not doing as well.

    Yep. It’s trade-offs.

Amazon ships something like 14 million packages a day; time is money in Amazon’s eyes. Its margin on a vinyl record - particularly a discounted record - likely doesn’t make it worth their while to give every (or any) record the white glove treatment.

Two, they almost certainly have returns built into their business model. Most people aren’t nearly as pedantic about bent corners as many people here and Amazon likely knows that returns will cost them less than providing white glove packaging.

Amazon knows their #1 attribute in their customer’s eyes is price and #2 is quick delivery. The occasional damaged good is something both Amazon and its customers (by and large) are willing to accept in exchange for low prices and quick delivery.

Was looking around at the Steel Wheels Live release by the Stones. Amazon has the deluxe CD box for like $63 bucks now. That was a big drop from what I saw a few days ago!

  17. Yeah there’s a few 3rd party sellers that are cheaper but I don’t really trust them based on their reviews so I’ll pay a few dollars more and get it from Amazon directly. Thanks for the tip!
