On Amazon quite a few of the BN Classics are in the $21 (or less) range. I have this LP, but I think I got it for even less during a Blue Note sale.
Yeah, I was able to get most of them around the $20 mark. For some reason I never could find the Johnny Griffin for less than $26 shipped. It's a 2019 so I guess I was late to the game; or looking in the wrong places. So when it came done from about $26 to $21 it was a deal for me.
Prices are really volatile on recent releases. I'm seeing prices shooting both higher AND lower. David Sylvian's 'Sleepwalkers' has gone to a steep premium price on Amazon, for example. On the other hand, a slew of recent Cherry Red label CD sets and individual titles are 40% off or so (on both Amazon and other sites). If you play your cards right, many of them are on the GetImportCD's EBay page with a 20% - off - $65 sale with free shipping, so that discount from list comes close to 50%. I like the remix a lot compared to the original mix. They stripped out all of Rick Parashar's reverse reverb, for example. It makes Ten sound more like Vs. sonically. Unfortunately, the remix was compressed to hell when mastered. So it ends up actually sounding pretty terrible. On top of that, the vinyl was pressed at United.
I received it today from seller: Service First Media. It's the MPO pressing, with RKS STERLING on all four sides. The one I received was factory shrinkwrapped but had some stickers on the back that seemed to be like retail store inventory stickers. So I wonder if this was slow-moving stock that Service First Media bought at a discount. Regardless, it's a price worth paying for Ryan K. Smith mastering. And now I have the opportunity to finally sit down and take an hour or so to see what all the fuss about Adele is. Adele - 30
