Looking for a good SACD player, something with a streaming option would be nice. Currently have a Pioneer UDP LX500 and on the top of my list to replace it is the Technics SL-G700. I like the fact he Technics has balanced outs and streaming built in.

For streaming duties I’m currently using a Bluesound Node 2i out to my Rega DACr so streaming is just a big plus as ultimately I would like an all in one solution.

Basically I’m looking to compile a list of players to audition next month.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I’ll have to turn this around a bit but what’s your take on the UDP LX-500 in general?

You did not specify whether you want stereo only or multichannel capabilities as well.

Your best bet might be to get one of the old second hand Sony players that has capability to rip the SACD and then you can play the dsf file on your main system (which is what I do)

    No brainer here.
    Send your Pioneer to Modwright.
Around $1500 to mod the input and output sections.

    I own one.
I can't recommend this more highly!

I’ll only be using it in a 2 channel setup.

Which Sony players? I don't see a Sony player in your profile.

Stereo only. Bedroom system. Have tons of SACDs and need the 4K vid. I have one on order.

It’s a great player. For SACD I find it just as good as the Oppo 105 and you can pick them up for around 750.00. It’s built like a tank.

The negatives for me are the lack of balanced outs and compared to some more expensive players I’ve heard a touch light weight

For $4000 the new Marantz model just reviewed in Absolute Sound or Stereophile was the best the reviewer has heard for SACD and CD. Now it's listed at $4000, which I realize is over your budget, but that's list. A little wheeling and dealing, and maybe selling your current model online, and bang, your there.

Thanks, sounds about right (I hope) for my intended application.

I like it but am concerned about the noise level that gets reported frequently. Definitely going to check it out though

I was initially thinking about going this route but not being able to hear one is a big drawback. Curious. What kind of improvements did you notice?

I don’t have it listed because I only use it for ripping but I have the bdp s390 (there’s a bunch of others that allow you to do the same thing through iso2dsd, some pioneers and oppos too but they tend to go for higher on the resale market)

What is the model number please.
Only Marantz $4k player I am finding online is the KI-Ruby, which doesn't even have balanced outputs?

I used to have a three-grandish SACD player. Replaced it with a Chord Qutest and couldn't be happier. I'll never go back to a disc player.

Is the Technics fully balanced? If not, there's no real advantage unless you're running really long cables.

I'd like to pick up a CD-S2000 . You can get them for under a grand in Japan. But I'm trying to behave as of late.

Supposedly fully balanced and will eventually end up running through 12 feet of cable.

That’s a beautiful DAC. I like physical media. If I was going to go without it that would definitely be high on my list.
