I’m a big fan of the gospel and spiritual albums from Elvis and Johnny Cash. Any others you think I should check out?

Let Us Go Into the House of the Lord by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, possibly the first album to combine black gospel with rock instruments (guitar and bass). If for nothing else, it has the amazing 1969 hit single, "Oh Happy Day":

Easy. Angel Band by Emmylou Harris

A sweet primer on mountain gospel that has carried this scared, doubting soul through good times and bad...

They didn't record a full gospel album but the Trio's handful of songs from both their albums are absolutely gorgeous, especially this one that is an unreleased track from the Trio Deluxe Edition:

Sister Rosetta Tharpe would be a great place to go looking for some 1930s and 1940s Gospel.

She was also a mean guitarist! :)
