Amazingly, this is my first time hearing this, and ... whoa. This is easily in my top 5 Jerry's that we were doing. Would it be crazy to suggest that Jerry never played better than he did here? The tone on Alligator is to die for, and he is shredding throughout. And I believe that John Kahn is highly underrated, probably knocked because he isn't Phil, but he is all over the place in this show. Phenomenal.
This is a great show, one of my top JG/MS shows. If I wanted to demonstrate why Jerry was such a great player to someone who wasn't familiar with him, I'd play the version of "I Was Made to Love You" from this show.
It’s a prime candidate for a RSD release, like the others that came before it. Surely it must be on the cards?!
According to my tracking it looks like my GarciaLive 14 plus bonus disc is being delivered tomorrow and I have the day off work. Perfect.
As much as I love that version, I don't know how much "wow" factor it would have for someone who wasn't already a fan. "I Was Made to Love Her" is burning from start to finish.
Received my GarciaLive 14 today. Somehow the corner of the bonus disc sleeve had managed to get chopped off before it was packaged up but fortunately the disc was fine. Got no problems with the sound quality so far. Can anybody make any educated guesses on what GarciaLive 15 could be? The last few volumes seem to be going for shows that are different to anything that’s been released in the series so I wonder if they will carry on that pattern
I agree, they have been leaning towards guests or less common performances/locations. What they "need" to do is get to some unrepresented eras - like all of the 80's before the JGB album era. I'm sure that lack of quality tapes is a major holdup.
