I was listening to the Clugston/Miller 3/24/73 source yesterday and thought that there could be some great improvements. The kick drum didn't sound that good to me. I hope it sounds smoother with a new source, new transfer and some good mastering if needed.

An October 12 & 13, 1968 release would be nice as well.

The '68 stuff won't go over well with the "arena rock" crowd, it's too psychedelic. Even that choice from '77 would stretch their collective attention span.

I still find it odd that there was no formal intro to DP32. No seaside chat. Unless I missed something.

One always hopes the "official" release will be a sonic improvement. This isn't always the case.

3/24/73 is a great release. I personally hold it in higher regard than Dave's previous releases of 3/28/73 but 4/2/73, but whatever. It's all good. That being said, I'm not sure I'm going to subscribe for next year. Too many other archival releases, Zappa, etc.

Here's my (more informed than most probably, having studied Irish) guess, prior to listening: LAW ga voo lin.

edit: looks like the first syllable is more La than Law, though Gaelic long a is usually like 'law'

I have to head out on the road for work this afternoon, will probably listen to 3-24-73 on the drive.

Ditto, right down to the pesky Zappa habit. I took 2018 off Dave's and didn't feel like I missed too much. This year was much better, but it's getting to the point where I'm only listening to these sets once or twice, max. This is not because they aren't great (most of them are!), but because there are too many other things competing for my ears, cash, and time, and the (at one time unimaginable) "Dead fatigue" I began experiencing in 2016 has only gotten worse since then. I could probably go five years without ever listening to a first set from the 70s and be alright.

This I don't get--why does everyone listen to a show in preparation for its release? It seems to me to make more sense to wait and listen to the released version with fresh ears.

What is the longest total (no Dead) break you've taken since 2016?

Oh, rarely more than a week or two! Less Dead in the colder months, but during summer and spring it's almost a daily ritual. The fact that my wife is a fan helps.

I take 6 months a year off, it totally solves the burnout problem.

I agree, but that in @ianuaditis ’ case, he doesn’t buy many of the Dave’s.

I'll sometimes go a step further and avoid the surrounding few months so the whole set will sound fresh.

I just listen to Death Metal and European Madrigals from the 13th Century until the new Dave's arrives. :uhhuh:

Well, I actually was just listening to the new album by Gatecreeper (Arizona death metal), so... yeah.
