I’m in, and have been since the Road Trips subscriptions started. I often feel like I’m living in an alternate universe over the past couple years, but would be even more so if a GD subscription service with an early bird price was offered and I didn’t bite.

    2019 Predictions:
#30 1980 with bonus disc acoustic set!
    #31 1974 Winterland show
    #32 1979 Brent's debut
And all completely wrong, per usual.

If we’re predicting I’m going to go with the following:

    #30 - 1-2-70 (bonus disc 1-3-70)
    #31 - 9-23-72
    #32 - 9-26-91

I was waffling between 9-28-72 and 9-23-72. Mostly went with 9-23 because I think 9-28 is strong enough where it can lead the pack of a new year of DVP’s in a few years.

I have not received my email yet but I have dutifully re-upped for another year. Maybe not every show is one that I really enjoy, but it is a great value overall and I never have to deal with individual purchases.

i'll probably renew again before November 9th. I'm thinking though about selling a few picks that I know I'm not going to listen to again so that someone else can enjoy them if they really want the shows. I think I have 3-4 dave/dick picks i'll never play again

Just like anything you once enjoyed.....with time you tend to like it more or you tend to like it less.
For me, GoGD music is the gift that keeps on givin'!

I just have shows I have only played 1 time and know i'll never bust them out again. I wasn't feeling the shows even with the 1 listen. I need more room for other dead stuff. more than likely i'll be selling daves 17 and 27 and maybe dicks 6 , 20 and 24

^No worries, mate! I'm sure you'll get your money back plus if selling. I've been needing to throw together more CD storage shelves for months. I've developed a serious habit. Lols.

You are not a fan of 3.23.74 (Dicks 24)? What doesn’t connect? Playin>UJB>Dew>UJB>Playin is never a bad thing.

I edited down Dave's letter on the 2019 subscription page. I like it better like this. Sort of like a haiku that isn't a haiku. A twisted one perhaps. Two thumbs up for another year of Grateful Dead releases!

    we're thrilled
    an exceptional, sought-after show
    an upper-echelon A+ Dead show

    three spectacular shows
    equally strong
filled with surprises and excellent playing throughout

    exciting times ahead
    great Dead shows
    thrilled

the most well-received Picks in the series
    another smashingly wonderful release
    subscription hoopla

    plenty of benefits
    great year
    great times ahead

it was pretty good. my disc 1 though skips when I bought it. the seller gave me a refund. if someone has a polishing machine they can more than likely get it to play without any skips.

Figured this might be a fun little exercise and a bit different from the normal predictions: you have the keys to the Grateful Dead Vault and can make the selections for official releases for the next few years. What shows do you choose?

Shows can be for a variety of reasons - monster shows yet to be released, long-standing personal favorites, shows you feel are underrated, shows you haven’t even heard as are waiting for a potential release, etc. I’d say let’s keep it to around a dozen to provide focus. I’ll get it started. Could be a fun way to turn others onto shows you love.

    1-2-70
    8-24-72
    9-28-72
2-15-73 (assuming back in the Vault)
    9-8-73
10-15-76 (assuming last reel is back in the Vault)
    5-4-77
    8-31-80
    9-11-82
    6-26-84
    3-26-87
    4-7-91

27 October 1973- Indy. If the last reel comes home, or has been in the Vault all along.

That could be fun! I was tempted to put down 10-25-73, but I always go back to October 73 needing the box set treatment.

I say no because Fall '79 has its own distinct sound. By the next Spring, they had moved on to something different again, and the sound of 1980 has more of a continuous connection to subsequent years. Fall '79 Dead and Winter '80 JGB are a fun, complimentary combination, though.

Don't give DL2 any ideas like that, he'll screw up another potential box set by releasing the shows (April '78) piecemeal.

On second thought: #30 6-23-74 MATRIX (First "Seastones" AKA Phil & Ned AKA Set 1.5 Bonus Disc)
